2 . ~ WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1925 PLAYERS APPEAR HERE NEXT WEEK "Come Out of the Kitchen" to Be Vehicle for Per- formances in Matz Hall WELL SELECTED CAST Other Productions Follow in March and April By M. T. J. The Winnetka Community Drama club has a strong appeal to those who are interested in "Dramatics as a Sport." This appeal is legitimate and carries with it the chance to indulge in sheer fun and play. It gives a chance to those people interested in acting, stage direct- ing and other arts of the theater to try themselves out and thus provides help- ful amusement without in any way at- tempting to encroach upon the profes- sional stage or to build up a false idea in the minds of the people that profes- sional smoothness and perfection is the object of attainment. Have Brilliant Cast The people who realize this, the Win- netka Players, that larger organization which is the outgrowth of the Winnetka Drama club, will present A. E. Thomas' adaptation, of Alice Duer Miller's comedy, "Come Out of the Kitchen," on the evenings of February 11 and 12 at Rudolph Matz's hall, Community House. The cast appears to be ideally fitted to bring out the proper atmosphere and in- terpret the author's lines in a way that should be satisfactory to the audience. As announced, Vernon M. Welch will play the part of Burton Crane, the yankee millionaire temporarily living in Virginia; Gordon Van Kirk, that of Solon Tucker; Lyman J. Weld, of Paul Daingerfield; Elmer Sipple, of Charles Daingerfield; Wesley Brown, of Ran- dolph Weeks; Alfred Freeman, of Thomas Lefferts; Mrs. John Marshall, of Olivia Daingerfield; Florence Stew- art, of Elizabeth Daingerfield; Mrs. Davies Lazear, of Mrs. Falkener; Mrs. C. W. Happ, of Cora Falkener, and Miss Olive Grover, that of Amanda. Mrs. Sherman Goble Directs Direction will be by Mrs. Sherman M. Goble, assisted by Miss Olive Grover, as art director. Mrs. L. A. Sherman will be the property manager. This play will be followed by Arnold Bennett's and FE. Knoblock's "Mile- stones," March 11 and 12 and Besier's "Don," in April. So popular have Community Drama club productions become that the Com- munity Players are announcing a new policy, that is, productions will be open both nights to the general public, at which time a small admission fee will be charged. Heretofore, the first night's performance has been for members of the dramatic club and the "Players" only and the public attended the second night. It is understood, of course, that members of the club and the "Pleyers" may at- tend on either night and that their season tickets will be good at either time. Avoca School Officials Thank Winnetka Friends Winnetkans who have so generously contributed toward the advancement of the interests of the Avoca Public school in District 37, west of the village, are receiving the hearty thanks of the Board of Education of the district.
