But this season, Lake Forest estates will not be the only ones giving vis- itors glimpses of their beauty, for Winnetka and Kenilworth members of the Lake Forest Garden club will also open their gardens. In fact Saturday, May 16, will find several charming gar- den plots of the latter villages ready for inspection. Those journeying northward will find little white bags on the gates that will open in hospital- ity the gardens of Mrs. V. K. Spicer of Kenilworth, and Mrs. Howard K. Philips, Mrs. William G. 'Hibbard, Mrs. Robert Cluett, Mrs. Frederick Scott, Mrs. John W. Scott, and Mrs. James Simpson, all of Winnetka. On Saturday, May 30, the following Lake Forest gardens will be displayed; those of Mrs. Frances C. Farwell, Mrs. Aime Millet, Mrs. John Pirie, Mrs. James Viles, Mrs. George A. Seaverns, Sr. The following week, visitors will again go to Winnetka, to the gardens of Mrs. John Stuart, Mrs. Calvin Fen- tress, Mrs. Charles W. Hubbard, and Mrs. Edward Welles. Miss Harriet Hebert, contralto, opened the program with a group of French songs given ip a charming manner with pleasing voice and beau- tiful tone quality. Madame Rider gave a lecture on Russian musid and com- posers, playing Russian compositions by way of illustration, with that un- usual interpretation which only an artist can give. By special request of the club, Madame Rider played one of her own compositions which proved her to be a gifted composer as well as and interpreter of other masterpieces.
