WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MAY 16, 1925 3 HURRY UP FOR 'BOBS' RACE! Offer Girls With Shorn Locks Big Opportunity Entries for. the Bobbed Hair Beauty contest being conducted by the Vil- lage theatre, assisted by WINNETKA TALK, are beginning to come in. Winnetka girls are beginning to see the advan- tage of entering the local contest, the winner of which will be sent to Chi- cago where she will compete in the state contest, which will select "Miss Illinois", who is to be showered with prizes and offered a six months' con- tract with the Universal Film company at Hollywood, with all expenses to and from that city paid. J. B. Koppel, manager of the thea- ter, who is in charge of the local con- test, predicts that in a short while the contest will gain wide popularity. Those who wish to enter are reminded that it costs nothing and entry may be made either in person or by photo- graph. Anyone wishing to enter who has no photograph may have one taken free of charge by applying at the thea- ter for a card to the Sykes Studio in Chicago. The prizes in the contest, which is for the purpose of picking the prettiest bobbed haired girl in the state, will in- clude a $1,000 diamond ring, $500 in cash and many other valuable prizes, in addition to the chance to get into the movies. Registration blanks may be obtained at the theater. Mr. Kop- pel urges that any who have pretty girl friends request them to enter. The only rules are that the entrant be 16 years old or more and have bobbed hair. Motorcycle Policeman Hurt in Crash on Drive Motorcycle Policeman Albert Ottone narrowly escaped serious injury Monday afternoon when his motorcycle was struck by an automobile driven by a man who gave him name as R. A. Benfer, and said he lived at 513 Linden avenue, Wil- mette. Ottone had stopped on Sheridan road near Winnetka avenue to give a speeder a ticket and was sitting astride his ma- chine by the side of the road when he saw Benfer speeding toward him. He attempted to get out of the way but was unsuccessful. The force of the impact threw him over the handlebars of his machine into the street, injuring his left ankle and hip slightly. Benfer was arrested on charges of reckless driving and disorderly conduct, and was fined $50 and costs on the first charge and $10 and costs on the second by Police Magistrate C. T. Northrop. A woman companion who was in Ben- fer's car escaped. Ottone was able to continue riding when his machine was repaired. N N ---- YOU WILL SLEEP WELL when you wear a suit of our Pajamas. Similarity of Names Caused This Mistake Similarity of names caused an error in last week's TALK which we hasten to correct. An article had it that Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Maynard had gone to Florida. It also stated that the Mr. Maynard in question was the Hubbard Woods real estate operator. These are the facts: Mr. and Mrs. Edwin T. Maynard, 1039 Pine street, have gone to Florida. Mr. Maynard is not the well known Hubbard Woods real estate operator. "I beg to advise that I am not going to Florida," writes E. P. Maynard, the Hubbard Woods real estate broker, "and that I have no intention of abandoning my Hubbard Woods real estate office or the business which has been carried on for the past 35 years, and I trust, therefore, that you will cor- rect this misleading information in the next issue of your paper." Correction is made. Read All the Want-Ads COLUMBIA SCHOOL OF MUSIC Clare Osborne Reed, Director 545 Winnetka Ave. Phone 974 Piano Kathleen Air, Principal Katherine P.
