Patten, 3510 Lake Park Ave. CAMP FIRE CEREMONY PROVES NOTABLE EVENT The Camp Fire Girls' Grand Cere- monial was held Saturday evening, May 16, in Community House. In the large circle in the Community House gym- nasium there were more than 100 girls around the real camp fire and the lighted torches. The beautiful candle-lighting ceremony of the Camp Fire, and the songs with motions were charmingly and impressively given by the girls. The following took rank as Wood- gatherer (the first rank) and received the Woodgatherer's ring: Frances Bell, Betty Gillies, Patty Jenkins, Betty Green, Virginia Schlaicks, Marjorie Smith. Those who received the Firemaker's rank (the second highest rank) were: Mrs. Paul Hutchinson, Mrs. R. D. Pierce, (Guardians) Katherine Bubhrer, Virginia Conner, Katherine Smith, Emily Nell Simpson, Barbara Burlingham, Lois Truesdale. Mrs. R. D. Pierce's group received the Honor emblem for having won the greatest number of honors dur- ing the year. A class of 20 young women from Northwestern university were presented by Dr. Norman E. Richardson, and re- ceived their certificates as Camp Fire Guardians from Mrs. Eloise Wortley, Winnetka executive of Camp Fire. This class has been studying Camp Fire methods and taking the Guardians' course under Dr. Richardson during the year. Dr. J. W. F. Davies, chairman of the Camp Fire council, intréduced Mrs. B. F. Langworthy who gave a talk to the girls on "Ideals," after which the candles were extinguished, Dr. Davies pro- nounced the benediction, and the girls marched out, singing.
