COUNCIL MAPS out PROGRAM FOR YEAR (Continued from Page 1) garbage disposal is possibly the most important and difficult of solution. At the present time garbage is dumped on the land of various farmers west of the village, to be used as fertilizer. This is not an ideal method of disposition as great care must be taken to keep the garbage free from paper, cans, and other substances, since the farmers do not like to accept it if these are too profuse. It is also a method of dis- posal which obviously cannot continue indefinitely. Study New Subdivisions The Plats and Zoning committee will take up the matter of the new sub- divisions south of Willow road. In a village of the character of Winnetka one of the most important bodies is the zoning committee and its work is kept constantly before the eves of the pub- lic. This is especially true along the north shore, where the amazing growth and the movement from Chicaco to the suburbs has confronted all the towns with the flat problem while the result- Ing growth of local business districts has brought the zoning question con- stantly to the front. All these matters listed for consid- eration by committees are closely re- lated to the welfare and development of the community. Numerous other matters will come before the council as a whole, as well as problems of the ut- most importance which spring up from time to time. It is only by planning its work in this manner that the coun- cil is able to accomplish its business as satisfactorily and expeditiously as it does. Local Policemen Attend Cops' State Convention Sergt. John Iverson, Constable Wal- ter Gregory and Motorcycle Policeman Albert Ottone of Winnetka attended the annual Illinois Police association convention held at Aurora, Ill, Wed- nesday of this week. They reported the convention as being the largest and most successful in the history of the organization. Many other north shore policemen were present and a large delegation from Chicago attended de- spite the serious crime situation in that city HOLD FOOD SALE The Sachacafi Camp Fire Girls of the Sacred Heart school, will hold a food sale at the Parish hall, Saturday, June 27, from 10 to 6 o'clock. FEvervone is cordialy invited. H. O. Olney to Address Scandinavian Services H. O. Olney of the Moody Bible In- stitute will preach at the First Scan- dinavian Evangelical church, 886 Elm street, Sunday evening, June 21, at 8 o'clock. Sunday school at the church will con- vene at 10:30 o'clock and the Young People's society will meet at 5 o'clock. The Rev. Frank Anderson of the Summerdale church will address the regular Midweek service Wednesday evening and will speak again before the Ladies' Aid society which is to meet at the Winnetka Woman's club, Thurs- day evening. Mrs. C. T. Anderson will provide the program for the Ladies' Aid meeting. PLEASURE CLUB IN DANCE The Scandinavian Pleasure club will hold its monthly dance this evening at Community House.
