¥ ery A WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 1925 13 Thompson- Wisdom Wedding Event of Last Saturday The Wilmette Baptist church pre- sented a background of summery green brightened with huge baskets of spring flowers, and softly lighted with tall candles at each pew and clusters of candles in the front of the church, on Saturday evening, June 20, on the oc- casion of the marriage of Miss Helen Thompson to E. Stanley Wisdom of Winnetka. The color of lavender orchids predominated, both in the flow- ers used in decoration and the shades of the gowns worn by the bridal party. The bride's dress of white moire antique was trimmed in pearls, and her train was faced with orchid georgette crepe. A coronet of lace and pearls held the tulle veil and its cap in place, and her bouquet was of white roses, lilies of the valley, and orchids. The maid of honor, Miss Nelle Brown of Highland Park, wore a georgette crepe frock of coral, while the brides- maids, Miss Eliabeth Kerr, Miss Eliz- abeth Munro, Miss Betsey Shapker of Wilmette, Miss Frances Brown of Highland Park, Mrs. Ernest Clark of Evanston, and Mrs. Norman Weyl of Percival-Grinsted Photo E. Stanley Wisdom New York City, were dressed in georg- ette crepe and tulle in three orchid shades, and carried clusters of roses and spring flowers. Mary Alice Ad- kins of Wilmette and Mercedes Mat- thews of Evanston were the little flower girls. Jack Taylor acted as Mr. Wisdom's best man, and ushering were Allan Bulley, Alfred McDougall, John Keith, and Robert Ely of Kenilworth, Russell Thompson of Wilmette, and Ernest Clark of Evanston. Throughout the ceremony which was followed by a reception at the Ouilmette Country club, organ music softly permeated the church, and on Mrs. one occasion, the organist played with the chimes, "O Perfect Love." Upon returning from their honey- moon trip through the north woods, Mr. and Mrs. Wisdom will occupy the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Thompson of 1356 Greenwood circle, Wilmette, during the family's absence for the summer. --_O0-- Miss Virginia Delay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold S. Delay, 878 Oak street, who returned recently from completing her year at Smith college, is recuperating from a slight operation on her nose made necessary as a result of the automobile accident she suffered in March while at North- ampton. ---- Several Winnetkans were guests at the Bradley-Carpenter wedding which took place in Lake Forest, Wednes- day, in the late afternoon. The bride was Miss Eleanor Bradley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Dorr Bradley, and her marriage to Benjamin Carpenter, Jr, united two of Chicago's oldest and most prominent families. --C The second Faculty recital of the Northwestern University School of Music will be given Tuesday evening, June 30, at 8:15 o'clock, at Fisk hall on Sheridan road. Professor EF. Stanley Seder is the organist. These recitals are of a very high type and are graciously given to the public without charge. ---- Major and Mrs. J. D. Anderson, who have been spending several days with Mrs. Henry Leach of 883 Cherry street, left Thursday evening for Columbus, Ga., to visit Mrs. Ander- son's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer. The Andersons are sailing for the Philippines, September 3, for a two years' stay. ---- Mrs. W. V. Merriman and her daughter, Elsa, 140 Euclid avenue, left Wednesday for Reading, Pa., to join Mr. Merriman who has been there for two months. The family exnects to be away until late fall. During the Merrimans' absence, the house is be- ing occupied by Carl Aspenwall and his bride. --_--Q-- Ronald Campbell of 271 Scott av- enue, has gone to Champaign to enter summer school at the University of Illinois. Mr. Janney and Fred- erick left Friday to motor east, and Mrs. Janney and the rest of the family will join them in Cleveland, to con- tinue the journey with them. ---- Miss Eleanor Hoagland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Royal S. Hoagland, 416 Willow road, has finished her course at Northwestern university and has re- ceived her Bachelor of Science degree with honors. She leaves July 3, for New York City, to take up secretarial work at the Y. W. C. A. --n Mrs. August C. Magnus, 650 Sheri- dan road, has as her house guests, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Junkin, who have just completed a most interest- ing trip around the world. Mrs. Magnus gave a dinner in their honor last Tuesday. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Milton Tilley, 382 Fairview avenue, have purchased the Earl Johnson home at 428 Willow road, and are moving in, July 1.
