WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 1925 SPRINGER BACKS IMPORTANT LAWS Local State Representative Home From Busy Sessions at Springfield ON MANY COMMITTEES Sponsors Agriculture and Forestry Measures State Representative Lewis B. Spring- er. whose home is at 430 Maple avenue, Wilmette, has returned from Spring- field after a busy session of the leg- islature where he has been the greater part of the time since early in January. Mr. Springer was called upon for impertant work in the last session as a member of the committees on appro- priations, municipalities, industrial af- fairs, roads and bridges, waterways, public utilities, and transportation. Springer visit and examine the needs of the Illinois State Normal college and the Illinois Soldiers' Orphans home at Normal, the Northern State Teachers' college at Dixon, The Illinois State Penetentiary and the Women's Prison at Joliet, the St. Charles School for Boys at St. Charles, and the State Training School for Girls at Geneva. Backs Experimental Station He sponsored a number of bills in the General Assembly among the most important of which was a bill author- izing the appropriation of $30,000 for an agricultural experimental station in Cook county which is located near Des- Plaines, and a bill which authorizes the Department of Conservation to acquire tracts for state forests and designates portions as game and fish preserves. This latter bill carries an appropriation of $100,000, making a total of $200,000 to start the important work in Illinois This bill also bore the endorsement of the Union League club, the Hamilton club, the Illinois Forestry association, and the Federation of Women's clubs of Illinois. Nine bills sponsored by Represent- ative Springer passed the house and senate at the last session. Reassemble Tuesday The legislature will reassemble for its final meeting Tuesday, June 30, when it will receive any vetoes from the governor of bills that he does not approve, aiter which it will adjourn sine die. Mr. Springer will leave Mon- day for the closing session and expects to be back in Wilmette the following Wednesday.
