TTeStreets and Alleys committe of 18 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 1925 NEWS OF INTEREST IN REAL ESTATE AND BUILDING FIELDS SKOKIE ACREAGE SALES BOOMING Sell Many Tracts Along New Rail Route Acreage sales all along the right-of- way of the new extension of the Chi- cago, North Shore Electric line, which is now under construction, have been booming during the past week accord- ing to reports frem various real estate men. Sales of 1,575 acres for total con- siderations of $1,195,100 have been re- ported along the line recently. Ray Rice and A. R. Shekleton have been unusually active in such transfers during the past week or two. Recently they closed sales for $485,000 worth of large tracts. Prices are said to have ranged from $300 an acre in Vernon township, Lake county, to $3,000 an acre adjoining the right-of-way of the new Skokie Valley line. Among the many sales reported is that of a 60-acre tract to a Catholic order, on both sides of the Des Plaines river north of Libertyville. A 24-acre tract, also sold to a Catholic order, and located adjoining the Spring Valley Country club is reported sold. An- other sale was for 120 acres adjoining the vernon Ridge country club. An 80-acre strip on West Park av- enue, just west of Highland park was reported sold to William P. Knopf, trustee for the Chicago, North Shore and Northern railroad. This tract ad- joins another already owned by the railroad, running along the right of way of the new line and recently ac- quired from the same source. They now have a 16 acre piece, 500 feet deep from the right of way. F. MacDonald Lowe acted as broker for most of the Rice and Shekleton sales. Anderson and Williams, of Chicago, report the sale of the Muzick holdings of 74 acres in Highland Park. Also the Carroll farm of 130 acres in Liberty- ville; the Hutchinson tract of 70 acres in Highland park and many other sales in Palatine, Wheeling and Northbrook, all for considerable acreages. Consider Relocation of West Territory Streets Relocating and renaming streets west of Ridge avenue to conform with streets east of the Ridge, of which they are natural extensions, is a mat- ter under careful consideration of the the Village hoard, Paul A. Hoffman, chair- "man. : In some instances it will be neces- sary to secure dedication of private properties to secure the proper align- ment of streets, Mr. Hoffman states. Assurance that this method can be readily adopted has been given by property owners concerned, he adds. A general survey of the territory has brought a favorable response from the residents in that vicinity, according to Mr. Hoffman. 52% Money Have funds to loan on choice Improved North Shore Suburban residence property at 5% 9 in- terest. Budinger LIFE INSURANCE Disability Benefits Almost all Life Insurance companies will, upon request, include in all forms of their policies one or more of the following agreements : (1) "Premium Waiver Disability"-- provides that if the insured becomes totally and permanently disabled be- fore attaining age of 60, and is unable to engage in any occupation for sup- port, the company will not require fur- ther premium deposits on his policy, but will nevertheless continue his policy in full force. The cost of this provision is exceedingly small. (2) "Income disability"--includes all provisions of "Premium Waiver Dis- ability" and in addition provides for a monthly income of $10.00 for each thousand dollars of the sum insured, except on "income policies", here the disability income is the same as the income payable at death or at maturity of the policy. The income during dis- ability is payable throughout life or until recovery, even though the policy itself may mature as an endowment in the meantime. The Income Disability Rider provides that if the Insured, before his age at nearest birthday is 60 years and after payment of the first premium on the policy and before default in payment of any subsequent premium, has either --(a) become totally and permanently disabled, or (b) been totally and con- tinuously disabled not less than three consecutive months, then the company upon approval of proof of such dis- ability, will grant the following bene- fits: (1) Waive further payment of pre- miums during the period of such dis- ability, commencing with the premium due next after the date of approval of proof; and (2) pay to the insured a monthly in- come of $10.00 for each $1,000.00 of principal sum insured during the period of disability subsequent to date of ap- proval of proof, the first monthly pay- ment to become due on the first day of the calendar month next after such approval. Under provision (a), relating to total and permanent disability, proof may be submitted and approved at any time. Under provision (bh), relating to total and continuous (but not necessarily permanent) disability for three months, : A MOST BEAUTIFUL HOME! The monthly income paid to the in- sured and the premium waived during disability will not under any circum- stances be held as an indebtedness against the policy. In case of recovery from disability the monthly income stops and the premium deposits are re- sumed. Double Indemnity "Double Indemnity--Accidental death Benefit" provides for the payment of double the amount of the principal sum insured, if the policy-holder's death results from purely accidental means, unless death occurs in military or police service, by suicide, from violation of the law, poisoning, (or infection not re- sulting from accident) or while taking part in submarine or aeronautical oper- ations. Under this agreement death must occur within 90 days of the ac- cident which is its cause, and before the anniversary of the policy on which the insured's age at nearest birthday is 60 years. Ordinarily Double Indemnity is not issued to policy-holders over 355 years of age, and whenever issued, ter- minates upon the anniversary of the policy on which the policy-holder's nearest birthday is 60 years. WENTE Sheet Metal Contractor 874 Center St., Hubbard Woods Festivity Marks Start of 7-Day Lake Cruises The officers of the Chicago, Duluth and Georgian Bay Transit company, celebrated the opening of the season Friday evening, by giving a dinner par- ty on the big steel steamship South American, to several hundred of their friends. Among the guests were the general passenger agents and other officials of many of the leading rail- roads. The elegance of the brand new furnishings of this great big cruising ship, proved one of the star attractions of the evening's entertainment, and was greatly admired. The South American left Saturday on her initial trip of the season, with nearly 400 passengers, and the North American left Tuesday June 23. with still a larger number. While those wonderful seven day cruises seem to be constantly growing in popularity with the public, the spell of hot weather has apparently stimulated earlier than usual, this type of travel, and tourists are availing themselves of these opportunities of securing relief from the heat by cool refreshing breezes, while enjoying the other attractions of this great water route trip on the Great Lakes. Warn Motorists Against Steamship Swindle Game Motorists bound for the Dells of the Wisconsin: river, are warned by the touring bureau of the Chicago Motor club of a smooth scheme to trim motor- ists of their hard-earned dollars. Travelers en route to the Dells are stopped on the road, often at towns as distant from Kilbourne as Madison, and are sold steamboat tickets for excurs- ions through the Dells. These steam- boat lines exist only in the minds of the swindlers, and the motorist is out his money. Travelers are urged to buy their tickets from the steamboat lines at Kilbourne. All hotels handle tickets. Do not trust the roadside vendor! la~ Slop Elm & Chestnut Sta PRICES Becoming Effective June 29, 1925 WEEK DAYS Shave ic... Hair Cut rel 4 ciate suis 35¢ .
