WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JULY 4, 1925 VACATION CLASS IN FULL SWING Eighteen Children Enroll on Opening Day Eighteen Winnetka children enrolled in the Daily Vacation Church school in Christ Church Parish House Mon- day of this week. The attendance will be greatly augmented, it is said, since the church expects to provide trans- portation for children living too far distant from the Parish House to make the journey by foot. The school comprises junior, primary and kindergarten departments and be- gins session at 9 o'clock every morn- ing, Saturday and Sunday excepted. Sessions begin with worship, fol- lowed by a study period and time de- voted to expression work. There are games out-of-doors. The juniors are given a Bible drill, while the primary children enjoy stories. LE Assembly is at 11:45 when the chil- dren salute the flag and have the clos- ing exercises. Work in the Kindergarten is similar to that in the upper classes. Lack of transportation facilities ap- pears to have prevented the attendance of many children. If there is sufficient demand from prospective pupils living a considerable distance from the Parish House, the school leaders will arrange for a bus to call at the homes. FLOUNDERED CLUB SHIP RIDES THE WAVES AGAIN After many months of effort the of Port of Missing Men, floating home of the Buccaneers' club, in Wil- mette harbor, has finally been raised. The pumps were started about 10 o'clock Thursday morning, and before noon the craft was once more riding the waves. The Port of Missing Men sank early in the winter, when ice developed small leaks around the water line which finally caused it to go down. An early attempt to raise the craft was unsuccessful and the success of the second attempt belongs to the Budahl and Melling company, of Evanston, and to E. J. Moberg, the diver who has worked for weeks to make the hull water-tight so that it could be pumped out and raised. Godirey H. Atkin, president of the club, announced that the hull was found to be only slightly damaged around the rudder post and that this damage had been repaired. He said that the craft would be dried out, painted and repaired, after which the equipment which has been in storage will be placed aboard and the floating club house will be ready for the sum- mer activities. The club will then be- gin its yacht races.
