WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, 1925 9 GOLF CLUB OF NORTH SHORE TAKE UP SCHEDULE FOR AUGUST Skokie Begins Club Championship Title Matches on Monday HE calendar for next week at Skokie club schedules the wom- en's club championship tourna- ment. All matches will be played off during the week. The qualifying round will begin on Monday morning, August 10, with three flights to qualify. Prizes will be awarded to winner and runner-up in each flight. There will be consolation matches for those who do not qualify. The Monday afternoon program includes approaching and putting. Mrs. S. R. Safford of Glencoe won in the putting tournament on Monday afternoon, August 3. In match play against par with handicap Mrs. Edgar A. Stevens of Kenilworth won first flight with Mrs. Paul G. Chace of Glen- coe the runner-up. Mrs. A. J. Mitchell of Winnetka was first and Mrs. R. Watson of Highland Park was second in the second flight. Mrs. Burtt B. Clover was the winner of third flight and Mrs. S. Clark was runner-up. Indian Hill Golf Club Is Hostess at Open Day BOUT 150 golfers were guests of the Indian Hill club on Wednesday, July 26, at open day for the Women's Western Golf as- sociation. Nine prizes were awarded. Low gross net score was won by Mrs. Reinhart of the Dallas country club and low net by Miss Elizabeth Armstrong of Oak Park. Honors in greatest number of fives were taken by Mrs. Kushel of Oak Park. Mrs. Douglas of Barrington Hill country club won in lowest score for even holes. The prize for least number of cuts was won by Miss Virginia In- gram of Sunset Ridge. Partners' choice score was won by Mrs. H. W. Armstrong and Mrs. Wil- loughby Walling, both of Indian Hill. Winners in the driving contest were Mrs. Robert Bennett of Indian Hill in class A, Mrs. Curtis of Westmoreland in class B, and Miss Srenrar of the Edgewater course in class C. On Wednesday of this week there was play for low net score in classes A, B, and C. The prizes were donated by J. MacMorran. North Shore Club Plays for President's Trophy IXTEEN women qualified for the president's trophy at the North Shore Golf club on Tuesday, Au- gust 4. Those who qualified will be paired as follows in the first rounds next week: Mrs. H. H. Harrison-- Mrs. Lloyd C. Ayres; Mrs. George D. Wolf--Mrs. Edward E. Tanner; Mrs. A. D. Collins--Mrs. Charles Barrows; Mrs. Ulmann--Mrs. Frederick Lenzen; Mrs. Ed Barron--Mrs. Charles E. Driver; Mrs. John F. Caine--Mrs. Victor B. Scott; Miss Jeanette Byrnes --Mrs. Breide Wilson; Mrs. Frank Snow--Mrs. Herbert Seymour. Mrs. H. H. Harrison and Mrs. F. to play the Barron were scheduled final match for the George D. Wolf trophy on Wednesday, August 5. Wilmette Begins Class Medal Play for August LEVEN women qualified for the class medal for August at the Wilmette club on Tuesday after- noon. Mrs. John Arends and Mrs. Wellinghoff qualified in class A. In class B those who qualified will be paired as follows in the matches next week: Mrs. Doelling--Mrs. A. C. Dengler; Mrs. F. N. Otte---Mrs. Gra- ham; Mrs. Colby--Mrs. Garretson: Mrs. Bertram--Mrs. Werner. Mrs: Wheeler drew a bye. The finals for the home trophy which were to have been played Tuesday by Mrs. Otte and Mrs. J. H. McNamara have been postponed to a later date. Miss Ingram, Mrs. Nevius Tie in Sunset Ridge Event ISS VIRGINIA V. INGRAM and Mrs. Nevius tied in class A and B with a low net of 87 in medal play over 18 holes with handi- cap on Tuesday at Sunset Ridge. Mrs. Musson was the winner in class B. Mrs. Hubbard Kcenan and Mrs. Theodore Rockwell tied in class D. The prize for the fewest putts for 18 hole. plavers was won by Mrs. Carroll Kendrick and for nine hole players by Mrs. Hubbard Keenan. Next week best ball foursome is scheduled with choice score of the part- ners' counts. Illinois Club Schedules Invitation Tournament The women of the Illinois Golf club held an invitation tournament on Wednesday, August 5. About 50 golf- ers were guests of the club. PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS Sid Scholes and W. Wylie will play 36 holes for the Wilmette club cham- pionship on Sunday. Play in the morning will begin at 9:30 and in the afternoon at 2:40.
