Scott, and Donald Phelps Welles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Phelps Welles of Evanston, Wednes- day afternoon, September 23. The Rev. James K. Richards will read the service at 4:30 o'clock, and a recep- tion will follow in the gardens where Miss Scott's sister became the bride of her finances twin brother, Edward Kenneth Welles, two years ago. Mrs. Welles will be her sister's ma- tron of honor, and Miss Emily Scott will be her maid of honor. Miss Scott has chosen as her bridesmaids, the Misses Isabelle Scott, Margaret Scott, Joan Stuart, Louise Tyler, Madeline Presstrich, Marian Smith, Elizabeth Bunnell, Nancy Heffingfinger. Edward Welles will be his brother's best man, and the ushers will be Cal- vin Trowbridge. Edwin Winter, III, James Douglas, Jr., Lawrence Williams, «Sanford Ottis, Frederick Lawrence, Martien Jenkes, Odgen West, and Keith Carpenter --Q-- Mrs. Lorenzo Johnson, 701 Sheridan road, and her granddaughter, Miss Helen Hardenbergh, are to sail for Europe from New York, September 27. They will meet Mrs. Johnson's son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Stew- art Johnson, in Cairo, Egypt, where Mr. Johnson is charge d'affaires, and motor through France with them. Later they will visit Mrs. Johnson's nephew, Hallett Johnson, who is first secretary of the embassy in Paris, and her niece, Mrs. Horace Lee of London. After spending several months with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Johnson in Cairo, Mrs. Johnson will return to her home in Winnetka in February. --0-- Mrs. Preston Boyden and her three children arrived Saturday from Santa Fe, N. Mex, to depart for Canada with the Horrace Tenneys, the Norman Harrises, and a group of Evanston friends on an extended camping trip. Mr. and Mrs. Boyden are leaving their children with the latter's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Chase of Lake Forest. --p-- Mr. and Mrs. F. I. Millington of 126 Oxford road, have just returned from a three months' trip abroad. Af- ter visiting many of the principal countries, they feel convinced that conditions had greatly improved dur- ing the past year. They stated that everyone was busy and the farmers were harvesting one of the heaviest crops in years. --0-- Mid-September caused the departure of many of the young folks of Wil- mette, and with their going, much of the activity attendant upon their pres- ence has ceased. Many are still to to leave Wilmette, but their names do not appear among those who already have departed for their respective alma maters. --Q-- Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wales, 480 Sheridan road, have as their house guest, Miss Elizabeth Willits of Louis- ville, Ky. Mrs. Wales entertained at bridge in honor of Miss Willits Thurs- day afternoon, September 10. Robert Wales has as his guest, Roland K. Smith of New Orleans.
