ah --- WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 1925 HOCKEY SQUADS START TRAINING Winnetka Field Hockey Club Meets September 22 Hockey time is here! The first meeting of the Winnetka Field Hockey club is set for Tuesday, September 22, at 2 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Robert Landreth, 195 Forest avenue, and all members of the club are urged to put in an appearance and to encourage other women interested in the sport to join up by communicat- ing with Mrs. Landreth at Winnetka 2160. Last season the club boasted first and second teams, both of which played with outside teams, the first squad losing but one game in its encounters with rivals in the Chicago Field Hockey association. Its total losses for the season were in a return game with the North Shore Country Day school Girls team and to the Madison, Wis. team. Four members of the Winnetka team won places on the All-Chicago team which played the All-Philadel- phia squad in the Grant Park Stadium last November. The quartet included Mrs. Paul Starr, Miss Dorothy Klotz, Mrs. Henry Tenney and Miss Margaret DeLacy. Mrs. Robert Landreth is the presi- dent of the club for the current season. Other officers are: Mrs. Thomas Hearn, vice-president; Mrs. Frederick Chapman, secretary and treasurer. Captain of the first team is Mrs. Rob- ert Brown, while the manager is Mrs. W. Dow Harvey. The manager of the second squad is Miss Virginia Miller. A captain for this squad remains to be chosen. - Practice is to begin the last week in September and a famous English hockey coach will arrive to supervise the training in October. Mrs. C. A. Tibbals, Jr., Dies at Rhinelander, Wis. CHURCH SCHOOL OPENS WITH BIG ENROLLMENT "The season of autumn may have its days of sadness, but it also has its hours of gladness in the return of the children to Church school after the summer days are over," writes a leader in Christ church. Last Sunday Christ Church school had a splendid attendance at its first session, and it is hoped that this week the attendance will be even greater. There is an important change this year in the hours at which the school will be held. There will be a session at 9:30 o'clock when the following grades will attend : fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and high school classes. There will be another session at 11 o'clock when the following classes will attend: Kinder- garten, first, second, third, and fourth grades. There will be a special class for children three years of age at the 11 o'clock hour. Even after one Sunday several pa- rents have expressed their apprecia- tion of the 11 o'clock session, and feel that it is going to be a great help to them in making plans for their family routine on Sunday morning. Miss Holgate, at Winnetka 884, will be very glad and willing to give any in- formation desired in regard to the school, it is explained. "Matter" to be Subject at Christian Science Church The lesson-sermon at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, on Sun- day morning, September 20, will be "Matter." Services are held in the Masonic temple at 708 Elm street at 11 o'clock. Sunday school convenes at 9:35 o'clock and the testimonial meeting is held on Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock.
