4 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 1925 "JANDER" FILM COMES FRIDAY Marion Davies to Be Seen at Community House Two popular screen stars will ap- pear at Community House next week when Hoot Gibson in "Let 'Er Buck" is featured on Tuesday and Marion Davies in "Zander the Great" occupies the feature position at the Friday performances. "Let "Er Buck" is really two pictures in one and both are full of thrills. The picture was filmed in Pendle- ton, Ore., at the time of that city's famous annual Round-up, and the program events were filmed as part of the picture, constituting the atmos- phere for the story action in which | Hoot Gibson stars. "Our Gang" will | appear on Tuesday in "The Big Town," a two reel comedy. "Zander the Great," from the well- known stage comedy, starring Marion Davies, comes to Community House next Friday. Perhaps never in her | career has Miss Davies been so ad- | mirably cast as in the role of "Mamie," the demure, whimsical, yet humorous heroine of "Zander the Great." Miss Davies is surrounded by a cast of noted players that sounds like the blue book of filmdom. Among them are Holbrook Blinn of "The Bad Man" fame, and Harrison Ford who played opposite Miss Davies in "Little Old New York" and "Janice Mere- dith." Others in the cast include: Hobart Bosworth, Harry Myers, George Siegmann, and Hedda Hopper. Combining deft comedy touches with strong drama and with a western twang to the latter episodes of the picture, "Zander" is a genuine novelty and one which promises a new achieve- ment for Miss Davies. Cardinal Tea Shop Soon Ready to Do Business "The Cardinal," combined teachers' home and public tea shop, located on Spruce street, near Center street, and sponsored by the Woman's society of the Winnetka Congregational church, is preparing to do a flourishing busi- ness, its proceeds to go into the building fund of the church. was the old Downs estate, have been made over into teachers' apartments b . . rather than that of the class room, it is The upper rooms of the house, which | and the Women's society has issued a plea to Winnetka householders to assist in furnishing the rooms.
