WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 1925 Camp Fire Embers Winnetka Camp Fire Girls Late last Monday afternoon, three Kimadsham girls and one guest started to the lake for a beach supper. The day was grey, winds blew from the southeast, and the waves came roar- ing up to the beach just as the rain- drops began to slowly penetrate the sand. Undaunted, and prepared for "roughing it" the girls built their fire, teasing it and coaxing it until the flame crackled and leaped, bending this way and that with the wind. Happy over their victory, the four Camp Fire maidens sat by the fire talk- ing over their program for the coming vear. Then, ravenous, and feeling the need of sustinance, out came the lunch boxes filled with sandwiches, bacon, to be sizzled over the embers, fruit and cookies. What squeals of fun when an apple dropped off the stick into the fire--what sighs of disappointment! But what Camp Fire is complete with- out toasted marshmallows? And so, we burned our tongues and grinned ,contentedly while rapidly disposing of the toasted sweets. But after two hours and a half in| the increasing rain, the girls covered the embers of the fire with the sand, disposed of all waste, and started back to the Community House leaving no trace of the good time we had just had. Being locked out of the house was rather hard on us, but, fortunately, a friend came by and rescued us from | our predicament. Having sung songs and new plans made, one kindly brother called for the girls and p: wcked them off to their homes. Announce Services for St. John's Membership The Rev. Herman W.
