Penfield, of Glencoe, county commissioner and chairman of the committee on subdivision plats and zoning of the Chicago Regional Plan- ning association, in a statement this week told of the success of regional planning in Cook county and asserted that it had saved a vast amount of money and time. Mr. Penfield is also a member of the Cook county board and the Glencoe zoning board of ap- peals. His statement was issued fol- lowing a meeting of state and county officials held in Chicago last week. "By controlling street widths and locations in accord with a master plan, we feel we are doing some fundamental planning for the future growth of pop- ulation in this region," said Mr. Pen- field. "Our success in obtaining the unanimous support of real estate sub- dividers in Cook county has shown what sound planning may be done simply by bringing the subdividers to- gether with the various officials. The subdividers themselves worked on these regulations along with city planners, the surveyors' association, county high- way engineers, and others, and when the rules were completed all agencies were in full agreement."
