36 WINNE T:KA- TALK November 14, 1925 LAUNCH DATE BUREAU Parents Advised to Register Holiday Parties with Community House Office to Avoid Conflict of Events Christmas is coming! Youthful gaiety and party days will soon be at hand. Before long 'the boys and girls will be coming home {rom schools and colleges. Parents are already plan- ning special occasions for these holi- days. It has been the experience of many in the past few years that after careful plans have been made, invita- tions sent out and all details perfected it was discovered that others had se- lected the same evening for the same type of party and largely for the same group of young people. This conflict proved not only discouraging, but in some cases, nearly disastrous to the parties: when large groups arrived at the same hour and left early to go on to the next party. © Such a condition also often develops youngsters an attitude of thinking less highly of the parties which they attend. Often times such a conflict could have been avoided had there been some central place of information --some clearing house for party dates that could have been consulted when a hostess was selecting her dates. Community House has been asked to help in this matter, and will be glad to book the Christmas holiday dates for private consultation of those plan- ning young people's parties. - Persons or groups considering any special dates for Christmas activities are asked to co-operate in this matter by calling up the office of Community House and asking for information concerning the possibilities of anv conflict. Commu- nity House will be glad to record these dates 'and to inform those interested of the possibility of conflict. If all parents in Winnetka will co- operate in this matter, it is pointed out, some of the annoyance of conflict of dates for Christmas parties may be avoided, but the full co-operation of all parents is necessary in order to give this service satisfactorily. If Winnetka parents will keep this in mind in planning their Christmas parties, Community House will be glad to help eliminate the disappointment which comes through unnecessary con- flict, it is explained. = This can be done in so far as the parents of these boys and girls are willing to co-oper-- ate and record Christmas party dates with the office of Community House. Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Coffin will give a dinner-dance at Indian Hill club Thursday, December 10, for their daughter, Miss Rosamond. ---- Mrs. Julia A. Edmunds who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. J. The lights were burning softly in the comfortable, cozy looking Camp Fire room in Commu nity House. Guests and girls were seated and chatting before the pro- gram began. Mrs. Marshall, the gifted guardian, gave a humorous monologue, "The Colored Woman on the Telephone." This selection was followed by a lovely little dance by Margaret Payberg, and the program was brought to a close with a' piano. solo, "The Snowflake Mazurka" played by Janet Marshall, the president of the group. While the girls were busying' them- selves serving tea; cookies, and can- dies, Mrs. Marshall explained to the mothers the meaning and purpose of Camp Fire. We congratulate the girls, they certainly displayed poise and a gracious hospitality! Here's to Camp Fire Girls!
