8 | so WINNETKA TALK November 28, 1925 TRAIN RAIL WORKERS IN FIRST AID DUTY North Shore Line Girls' and Men's Teams Make Enviable Records in Life-Saving Girl employes of the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee railroad-- the North Shore Line--are active and interested participants in the First Aid work undertaken by the company. The North Shore Line is making an enviable record in its First Aid work. For several years an organized effort has been made to train all employes how to meet emergencies calling for First Aid treatment. This training in- cludes cases of drowning, heat, pros- tration, suffocation, asphyxiation, elec- trical shock and other possible ac- cidents. Many lives have been saved through practical application of this training by North Shore line employes. In the majority of cases the aid has been given to persons not employed by the company and in accidents occurring when the employes were not on duty. That the First Aid work of the North Shore line organization has been suc- cessful is attested by public recogni- tion. Most notable was the recent se- lection of a previous North Shore Line Girls' First Aid Drill team, to appear in demonstrations before the annual convention of the Illinois Association of Graduate Nurses at Springfield. Lenore Tobin, R. N., chairman of the convention program committee, in commenting on the North Shore line first aid work following the demonstra- tion, said: "It is surely a decided con- tribution to the useful education of our citizens for your company to dis- seminate such training among the em- ployes of your organization." Mabel McClenahan, R. N., former chairman of the Public Health section of the association, commending the girls for their excellent showing, said: "This is certainly a good piece of work in the Public Health field." The feature of North Shore Line First Aid work is its progressiveness. Seven men's teams have been grad- uated, and the eighth team is now in training. Other girls' teams will fol- low the one which has just completed its training, SPONSORS DRAMA VENTURE Mrs. Dudley Cates, 620 Ash street, is one of the sponsors of the latest adventures in drama, the new Chi- cago Producing corporation, which gave a luncheon at the Arts club Wed- nesday.
