IE December 5, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 19 PRESENT NAMIKO SAN | AT OPERA NEXT WEEK Chicago to Witness World Prem- iere of New Work: "Der Rosen- kavalier This Sunday The new week, the sixth, of the Chicago Civic Opera season, opens Sunday, December 6, with a matinee performance of "Der Rosenkavalier." Thousands of persons who have been anxious to hear this great German work, have been turned away because hitherto it has been sung on occasions when the subscription sale has ab- sorbed every seat in the Chicago au- ditorium. Therefore, the presentation of this novelty is a great triumph for the com- muters who constitute the Sunday af- ternoon audience at the Chicago au- ditorium. The original cast will sing the opera--probably for the last time this season--and the walls of the house probably will be unable to accommo- date the crowd that will wish to hear this unique work. The current week will be brought to a close this Saturday with a per- formance of "Martha," at popular prices, in which Florence Macbeth, Irene Pavloska, the unequaled Tito Schipa, Lazzari, Torti, and many other stars of the first order in the Chicago Civic Opera company will have a part. The performance is part of the educa- tional program of the company and is regarded as the great "bargain" of the season.
