v December 5, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 23 - DISCUSS WORLD COURT Ex-Gov. William E. Sweet of Colorado Will Reply to Opponents of Peace Measure at Chicago Forum With the United States Senate about to make its decision on our adhesion | to the World Court, the Chicago | Forum will devote its meeting Sunday afternoon, December 6, at the Apollo theatre to a discussion of that question, Fred A. Moore director of The Forum announced this week. The speaker, former Governor William E. Sweet of Colorado will state the case for our adhesion to the Court in direct reply to Senator Borah who spoke in Chi- cago recently against the Court and in some contrast to Col. Raymond Robins' recent statement before the Forum about the Court when the em- phasis was put on the outlawry of war reservations formulated by S. O. Levin- son of Chicago. It is expected that Mr. Levinson will make another brief statement at the Forum of this out- lawry proposition as accepted by some leaders of the world court party as a harmony peace program with the lead- ers of the outlawy movement. Governor Sweet was chief excutive of Colorado in 1922-1924, being barely defeated for re-election by a small margin of Klu Klux Klan votes. His election in 1922 was accomplished in spite of the opposition of the leaders of his own party. His opponents at- tached the label "millionaire labor governor" to him. He had had a long and successful career as a banker in Denver and stood on a platform fea- tured by advocacy of progressive meas- ures for the welfare of the working oeople of Colorado. In spite of the handicap of a reactionary legislature he was successful in getting the pas- sage of a very progressive farmers' cooperative marketing law, workmen's Correct Gift Hosiery WOMEN'S High Quality all Silk Chiffon Hosiery in all the Smart Shades $1.95 3 pair for $5.75 PaoL & PIPER CHILDREN'S Pris. f SPECIALISTS 1608 Chicago Ave. Evanston, Ill compensation act, a strengthened primary law, and other labor measures.
