Décember 5, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 33 Cadman Devotees to Hear Noted Artist in Concert Dec. 11 Charles Wakefield Cadman, the fa- mous composer, will give a concert of his own compositions in the ball room of the Orrington hotel, Evans- ton, Friday evening, December 11, at 8:15 o'clock. The concert is given as a benefit for the scholarship fund of the Sigma chapter of the Mu Phi Epsilon sorority. "It seems to be the fate of nearly every composer," reads a comment on the forthcoming concert, "to be known by one or two of his 'little'thifigs'-- songs or piano pieces--even though he may have produced serious works in the larger forms which have won recognition by critics and serious- minded musicians. This is true of Mr. Cadman, who has written serious chamber music and the scores of sev- eral operas, together with many orchestral compositions. "Yet the public at large knows him only as a composer of "From the Land of the Sky Blue Water" and "At Dawning," songs made famous by Nordica, Bonci, McCormack, Gluck, Alda, Bispham and a score of other great artists." Mr. Cadman will be assisted in this concert by Constance Eberhart, so- prano, Madame Olk Roelk, cellist, and Mamie Cedargren Jernberg, violinist. This is the only public appearance of Mr. Cadman in Chicago and. vicinity this season.
