6 WINNETKA TALK Program of Music at Club Delights a Large Audience A program to satisfy the most con- servative critic and at the same time exceedingly enjoyable to all, was given Tuesday at the Woman's club, under the direction of the Music department, before a large and enthusiastic au- dience. Miss Catherine Wade-Smith, the young violinist, of unusual poise, who last week appeared with the Symphony Players of Chicago at New Trier and at other times with the Chicago Sym- phony orchestra, delighted her listen- ers. with her exquisite interpretations and amazing technical ability. In the Cesar Franck sonata, as well as in all her seletcions, she was most ably sup- ported by William Beller at the piano. It has been some time since Win- netka has had such a pleasing vocal ensemble as nine members of Mu Epsilon, honorary musical sorority, presented. Their voices harmonized beautifully. "Sea Fairies" by Elizabeth Cook, was especially enjoyable. ENJOY CONTINENTAL TRIP Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sincere of Glencoe, after spending two weeks in Paris, have been traveling through France and Italy. While in Rome they had an audience with the Pope, which they reported as most interesting. From Rome they went to Naples, and later returned by way of Rome nd proceeded to Florence, Milan, Venice, the Interlaken in Switzerland, thence to Paris and sailed for home on the Berengaria last Saturday. A group of twenty friends gave a surprise party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Neubacher of Walden road Saturday, November 28, on the occa- sion of Mrs. Nubacher's birthday. Bridge was the diversion of the eve- ning. i mp ems Eight little friends and playmates of Elsa Merriman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William V. Merriman, 140 Eu- clid avenue, were her guests Wednes- day afternoon at a party given in celebration of her fourth birthday. Riding Club Members Take Boxes for Show Colton C. Indian Hill Riding club members are keenly interested and will be ably rep- resented each night. Elected as Officer of Hospital Board Mrs. William B. Hale, 900 Willow road, has been elected vice-president of the Woman's board of the Chicago Lying-In hospital,' and Mrs. William Cowper Boyden has been chosen as a member of the calendar fund of the board which does much to obviate the necessity for giving large benefit af- fairs for the hospital by each member giving checks or gifts in memory of departed loved ones. Mrs. Clyde Carr has just made a substantial gift to the fund, a check for $2,000 in memory of her mother. Mrs. Kellogg Fairbank has been re-elected president. Mr. and Mrs. William Henrichsen of Pasadena, Cal, are being con- gratulated upon the birth of a seven and a half pound daughter November 17.
