8 WINNETKA TALK December 12, 1925 MAIL PARCELS NOW! Postmaster Adams Makes Final Plea to Christmas Shoppers to be Prompt in Dispatching Holiday Packages "Mail it now!" That is the urgent appeal of Post- master Elmer E. Adams to all Win- netka Christmas shoppers who are to utilize the facilities of the local post- office in dispatching their holiday parcels. Early shopping and prompt mailing go hand in hand, Mr. Adams points out. While early shopping materially lightens the task of the salespeople in the last days of the holiday rush, so also does early mailing make for greater efficiency in the handling of the vast amount of mail that passes through the postoffice at this season. Along with this statement to the public goes the further happy informa- tion that Postmaster Adams has been recommended for reinstatement and will therefore continue his efficient supervision of the disposition of the Christmas rush of mails. Mr. Adams recently tendered his resignation to be effective December 19 and the De- partment at Washington announced a special examination for the position of Winnetka postmaster. In response to pressure brought to bear by his friends Mr. Adams decided to seek re- appointment and the recommendation was soon forthcoming from headquar- ters at Washington. Mr. Adams had planned to resume work in the railway mail service with which he was connected for more than 30 years.
