December 19, 1925 WINNETKA TALK 9 ARRANGE EXCELLENT XMAS OPERA PROGRAM Week Beginning Monday, Decem- ber 21, to be Replete With Per- formances of Merit Christmas week at the auditorium, the home of the Chicago Civic Opera, will be celebrated with a remark- ably fine and attractive series of lyric works. Along with some of the estab- lished favorites to be presented will be a world premiere, and the repetition of another opera whose premiere took place with the greatest success a few days ago, Friday, December 11. "Namiko-San" is the repetition and will be presented again with a revival of "The Daughter of the Regiment," Thursday evening, December 24 (the night before Christmas). W. Franke Harling's much heralded opera in "jazz" meter, "A Light from St. Agnes," will be presented for the first time the afternoon of Saturday, December 26. It will be followed by the old depend- able, "I Pagliacci," making an un- usual double bill. "Boris Godunoff," which was given one of its finest interpretations several weeks ago with Georges Baklanoff in the title role, will be presented again Tuesday evening, December 22, with the same exceptional cast. Mary Garden will also appear on next week's repertoire in two such well known operas as "Werther" and "Thais." "Werther" will be presented Wednesday evening, December 23, and "Thais" Saturday evening at popular prices.
