24 WINNETKA TALK December 26, 1925 ENCOUNTER CHAMPION New Trier Basketball Teams to Engage Fast Aggregations During Holiday Season--Schedule Shows New Trier High school's basketball games for the holiday season have been announced as follows by W. L. Childs, director of physical education at the high school. December 26--Hyde Park High school (champions of Chicago) at New Trier. Dec. 31--Columbus, Ohio, (winners of third place in the Ohio State champ- ionship last year with every man on the team back) vs. New Trier. In order to accommodate in comfort the large number of New Trier basket-ball fans interested in these special games, this game will be played in the new gym- nasium of the Evanston High school. To reach the gym. go west from Ridge avenue on Church street. January 2--Elgin, Ill, (state champ- ions of Illinois) at New Trier. The new Trier teams have not been defeated to date this season and bid fair to rank with the best in the sea- son's final records. All the games noted above begin at 7:30 o'clock. North Shore Will Not Lose Mr. Foster, Yet L. W. Foster, who had planned to discontinue his piano-tuning business on the north shore and make his home at Schoback Landing, New York, has de- cided to remain on the north shore and continue his business. Unfereseen circumstances have made it necessary that Mr. Foster remain in this vicinity indefinitely and he is prepared to take care of his large clientele without in- terruption, he asserts. Mr. Foster has been engaged in the piano-tuning business in this vicinity some 30 or 40 years and is well known to hundreds of residents in all the north shore communities. Last winter he was severely injured when struck by an automobile, at Kenilworth, but he has for some time been able to be about and attend to his work. LEAVES FOR WEDDING Mrs. Bentlev McCloud of 416 Cum- nor road, Kenilworth. left Wednesday for Omaha, Neb. to attend the wedding of her brother, Rohert Omstead, who is to marrv Miss Edith Tyler Tuesday, December 20. Mrs. McCloud will be matron of honor and her daughter, Nancv, will be flower girl. Mr. Om- stead and his bride will make their fu- ture home in Milwaukee. Giannini, Hailed as Second Patti; Sings Here Jan. § Dusolina Giannini, dramatic soprano, hailed as a successor to the beloved Patti, will give a recital at New Trier high school Friday evening, January 8, under the auspices of the Winnetka Music club. Miss Giannini has just completed an extensive tour of Europe where she has been giving a series of concerts said to have been very suc- cessful. She has met with great favor wherever she has sung and recently, when she sang the title role in "Aida" she received 27 curtain calls. Members of the Music club urge that any who hold season tickets, but will be unable to attend this performance, turn in their tickets for the occasion, as many who want to attend have no season tickets and cannot gain admission otherwise.
