The reservist is caused no expense, and expenses inci- dent to training are paid by the gov- ernment. Technical text book instruc- tion on military tactics and current regulations are furnished from various service schools and the reserve officer or enlisted man is thus enable: to keep himself familiarzed at all times. This is very beneficial, needless to say, in event of war, were he called upon. Technical specialists and non-com- missioned officers by such Reserve Corps enlistments are given every op- portunity to avail themselves for ap pointment as 2nd lieutenants. The commanding officer of the 159th Brigade Machine Gun Squadron is anxious to complete enlistments, espe- cially for vacancies in Staff and Troop "N. C. Os" and requests all men of military age (18 to 45 years) interested in this patriotic duty to submit their application to 405 W. Van Buren street, Chicago, or 347 Oak Circle, Wil- mette. Information will be cheerfully and fully furnished regarding reserve corps regulations. It is of interest to know that a Ca- valry division consists of : headquarters staff and special troops; two cavalry brigades (two regiments each); one field artillery battalion (horse); one combat engineer battalion (mounted); officers, 18 warrant officers and 6950 one division train; attached medical department and chaplains; total of 394 enlisted men. A full complement of commissioned officers have already been secured with many applications on waiting list from veterans of the World war. The division has also many "enlisted reservists" and the offi- cers are now selecting from its "en- listed personnel" and applicants for enlistment, those who are eligible for "specialists" appointments, non-com- missioned officers, etc. In case of a national (military) emergency or hos- tilities, this division would fill its ranks ! from enlisted men drawn from the VI Corps area, namely, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.
