© WINNETKA TALK December 26, 1925 FIREMEN'S BALL NEAR Winnetka Department Makes Ar- rangements for Annual Masquerade Dance to Be Held January 16 Chief G. M. Houren of the Winnetka Fire department this week announced the date of the annual Firemen's Mas- querade dance as Saturday eveming, Jan- vary 16, beginning at 8 o'clock. As usual, prizes for the best costumes will be given, although the exact number of prizes has not yet been decided upon. The music this year will be furnished by the Night Owls, an eight-piece orch- estra composed mostly of New Trier high school students. This organization has been playing together for the past several months and is said to play a particularly excellent quality of dance music. . The event will be held at the Com- munity House as in former years. There has been a firemen's dance held every vear for so long that even the older members of the department cannot re- member just when the custom began. In by-gone days the dance was held on an upper floor of the present old Village hall and then, as now, the residents turned out in large numbers for the event. Last year the capacity of the Community House was taxed to the utmost by the crowd of merrymakers and it is ex- pected that this year all the available space on the first floor, except the gym- nasium where the dancing will be held, will be needed for cloakroom space. The proceeds from the dance go to the Fire department. All residents are urged to get their tickets early as it is predicted that this will be the best dance ever staged by the firemen and that the larg- est crowd ever seen in the Community House will be present. The department is working diligently on plans to make the evening a huge success.
