EC Ni WINNETKA TALK 11 January 2, 1926 | OPEN MENTAL CLINIC Northwestern University Establishes | Psychological Branch to Aid Chil- | dren and Adults of North Shore | Ready response has met the proposal | of the psychological department of | Northwestern university to aid the north shore district through the mental hygiene clinic recently organized at the school. The work is under the super- vision of Prof. A. R. Gilliland and John J. B. Morgan. "The purpose of the clinic is to give help to anyone who has any mental difficulty," said Prof. Gilliland. "It is not limited to children, although this is one great field of work, but will serve all persons who come for help. There is no red tape and the service is free. "The object is to treat minor mental disturbances before they lead to some- thing serious. People who become mentally unbalanced start with some mild disturbance. If this disturbance is corrected in time the later and more serious trouble is averted. Difficult conduct problems in children always start with something trivial, but these, if handled incorrectly, may lead to pernicious, lawless acts." In order to meet the medical needs of the clinic, Dr. Herman Adler, di- rector of the Institute for Juvenile Research of Chicago, has agreed to furnish a psychiatrist. The Central Association of Evanston Charities is co-operating on the social side. Individuals needing examination have been sent to the clinic by the super- TAYLOR'S | Red Ticket Sale Leather Goods Reduced in price from 209% to 333% Discontinued numbers and pieces that were used for dis- play purposes. 28 E.
