Western Avenue Social Welfare to Be Chicago Forum Topic January 17 The Chicago Forum will make an- other endeavor for understanding and good will Sunday, Janaury 17, at its meeting in the Olympic theatre, Fred A. Moore, director, announced today. The meeting will be devoted to a pre- sentation of the program for social welfare and human betterment - as adopted by the official bodies of Cath- olics, Jews and Protestants. The speakers will be the Rev. J. W. R. Maguire, professor of sociology, St. Viator's college, Bourbonais, Ill, a courageous, forward-looking Catholic priest; Rabbi Gerson B. Levi of the temple, one of the ablest Jewish lead- ers in Chicago and a worthy rep- resentative of the Central Conference of American Rabbis; the Rev. Hubert C. Herring of Boston, social service secretary of the Congregational church- es and dynamic leader of social thought and action among the Protestant churches. There will be plenty of time for a searching question period, it is promised. The Chicago Forum Council, under whose auspices the Forum is conducted, is a non-partisan and non-sectarian group of citizens representing the major social, economic and racial groups in Chicago and its suburbs. It considers this meeting as an oppor- tunity for religionists to get a better understanding of each other and for non-religionists to get an unusual in- terpretation of religious forces.
