Eastman, 984 Cherry street, Wingetka, has returned from Wash- ington where he attended a meeting of | | the officers and directors of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity of which Pres- ident Coolidge and his son John were both members at Amherst college. Mr. Eastman is the graduate secretary of the fraternity. As a Greek letter so- ciety, Phi Gamma Delta is one of the oldest and best known in the college world, having chapters at most of the leading institutions in the country. It is represented at nine of the colleges in the Big Ten, Northwestern being the exception. More than twelve north shore men are members of the fraternity. Mrs. Harry W. J. Carr, the statement was made that for the first time in the history of Cook county, under the direction of President Anton J. Cermak, the admin- istration of Cook county affairs has been held within the budget regulations and due to economies, efficiencies, etc., $1,741,000 has been recorded on the credit side of the county achievements rather than carrying a debit into the next budget. In round figures the story of the achievement is revealed in the follow- ing: Bills accrued to be paid and not car- ried into the next budget, $886,000; Tax anticipation warrants retired, $783,000; Paid over to the Board of Education by Treasurer under new law whick would have accrued to county funds, $107,000 ; Approximate amount to be turned over to county and village schools un- der new law, $75,000. Orit WED RECENTLY The marriage on Saturday, January 23, of Miss Edythe Gilfillan and Carl D. Kinsey is of interest to many resi- dents of the north shore. Mr. Kinsey was formerly manager of the North Shore Musical Festival held in Evans- ton each season, and manager of the Chicago Musical college, where his bride was secretary.
