And by Appointment 342 Park Avenue Glencoe, IIL A Skokie School Children Give Realistic Portrayal of Lengendary Exponent of Love and Friendship During the regular assembly period next Monday afternoon the children of the Skokie school will give a vaude- ville show and party, the program of the former part of the entertainment depicting St. Valentine in his leave- taking from earth and his gift to the earth in the form of a heart contain- ing deeds of thoughtfulness and kind- ness, a concrete representation of the abstract thing. In the first scene, St. Valentine tells the people to whom he leaves the heart to hold a festival every year. The sec- ond scene is one of the festivals, when the music, 'etc., are presented as the gifts to the heart to enable it to grow. Bob Pearce, as master of ceremonies, will announce that it is customary for each person to present a gift to the heart at this festival. Some will bring gifts of music, some bring dancing or tumbling and all these will be accept- able to the heart because they bring happiness to the world and lighten lei- sure hours. Thus the program is built around the mythical legend. There will be three musical numbers, one by members of William Lum's class; one by members of Edward J. Meltzer's class; and Griff Lathrop will play his broomstick fiddle, on which, during his service in the engineering corps, during the war, he frequently entertained at the "Y" huts. The Tumblers will give one number and Ray Ickes, Web Young and John Col- lier will give an Indian dance. The entire program is one which has been planned by the Dramatic class, whose teacher, Miss Paulina Mitchell, and Mrs. Donald Murray will have charge of the entertainment. deliveries.
