[ | In Scoutdom | | Camp Fire Embers Friday, Febrbuary 26, Scouts met as their new Assistant Scout Master, Jack Hancock who has just arrived from the | East. Next some of the Scouts pre- sented some knot boards that they had made. After that there were games. The Scouts were then put through a snappy O'Grady Drill-down followed by a signalling contest. Troop 2 made plans for a hike on the following day and worked on the Semaphore Code, Also they learned o "Box the Compass." Troop 1 was introduced to their new Assistant Scout Master, Holden An- derson. Roll was then taken. Follow- ing that a game. of Hare and Hounds was played outdoors, after which Dr. Eisenbrand gave full instructions in Se- maphore Code. An O'Grady Drill- down was then held. Dr. Eisenbrand then picked a team to put on a good stunt next Friday night. Also, he in- vited the Patrol leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders down to his house on Tuesday night the 2nd. Fred Rumm- ler then dismissed the troop, The Scout council will meet next week. Scout Council The following boys passed their Ten- derfoot Tests: Robert Pierce, Troop 2; Walter Wanger, Troop 3; Ewing Johansen, Troop 3; Robert Walgren, Troop 3; Benjamin Phelps, Troop 3; John Bar- | den, Troop 3; Harry Benson, Troop 3; Ralph Dillon, Troop 3; Jimmie Odell, Troop 3 The following boys passed their sec- ond class tests: Mac Collins, Troop 3; Louis Dean, Troop 3; Jimmie Alsdorf, Troop 1. Citizenship! Just what might that mean? [ If- the girls kept their ears wide open they might catch certain facts about the different countries portrayed, The nations represented, were: Italy, by Jean Maddock and Muriel Uhle- man; England, by Josephine Johnstone and Virginia Conner; and Czecho-Slo- vakia, by Lois Kahnweiler. Two in- teresting countries, China and Algiers, had to be omitted because of illness of two members. The supposedly austere Official was Marjorie Englehard and her learned accomplice, the Interpreter, was Jane Ashman. We are glad to state that the worried Marshall was none other than "K" Smith. Group Hears Dr. Harold Rugg The annual mid-year meeting of the Parent Teacher association of the North Shore Country Day school was held at the school gymnasium, Wed- nesday evening, at which time the asso- ciation had as its guest and speaker, Dr. Harold O. Rugg, of the Teachers' | college, of Columbia university and also of the Lincoln school of New York City. Dr. Rugg spoke on the subject of "In- telligence Tests," giving a history of the development of the tests in Amer- ica, discussed the types of questions employed and indicated the position of the various wings of opinion concerning their usefulness.
