Adams, wife of Postmaster Elmer E. Adams and mother of Alva Lee Adams, of the Adams Pharmacy at 784 Elm street, passed away at the Highland Park hospital, Wednesday morning, March 3, at 5:35 o'clock, following an illness of several weeks' duration, pleurisy being the direct cause of her death. Mrs. Adams was a daughter of Wil- liam H. and Martha Cazel, of Olney, Ill, where she was born February 23, 1867. There she was united in mar- riage with Mr. Adams, November 23, 1887, soon after which they came to Chicago, and to Winnetka, in 1898, where the family has since resided, their present home being at 873 Oak street. In 1903 Mr. Adams was one of the founders of the present Adams pharmacy, which Mrs. Adams actively participated in developing, gaining a host of friends throughout this com- munity who now deeply mourn her passing. Mr. Adams, who has been postmaster in Winnetka since 1921, al- so held this office for the four years between 1909 and 1913. Previous to that time, dating from 1894 and also between his terms as postmaster, he was employed in the railway mail service. Mr. Adams has just been re- appointed for another term as post- master. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Eastern Star, of Winnetka, and of the White Shrine, of Evanston. In addition to the husband and son, five brothers and two sisters survive. The brothers are, T. J. Cazel, of De- catur; Robert Cazel, of Freeport; George Cazel, of Champaign; John D. Cazel, of Olney, and Harley R. Cazel, of Villa Grove. The sisters are, Mrs. Belle Stevens, of Chicago, and Mrs. Charles Rexroat, of Bloomington. Funeral services were conducted from the chapel, at Memorial Park cemetery, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, by the Rev. James Austin Richards of the Winnetka Congrega- tional church. Colvin, Sr., of Evanston, of the engagement of their daughter, Lora Josephine, to Gordon Whitney, son of Mr, and Mrs. Charles P. Whitney of 404 Church street. The Colvin family has a large acquaintance here.
