Im," March 13, 1926 WINNETKA TALK - Wilmette Youth Has Star Role in Guild Play The North Shore Theatre Guild has assembled one of the strongest casts in years for "The Pelican," which is to be the third production of the fifth sea- son. "The Pelican" plays in Highland Park on March 15, Lake Forest, on March 16, and Evanston, March 17 and 18. The Winnetka dates have been changed to March 19 and 20, and Wil- mette's performance will be March 24. Mrs. Emma Blaine McKendry of Ev- anston, who will be remembered for her delightful work in "Mary the Third" and "The Truth About Blayds," has the leading role created by Margaret Lawrence in New York. Edward Fel- ke of Wilmette, who is making his first appearance with the Theatre Guild, 1s to play the son; Miss Olivia Fentress of Winnetka, Spaulding Coffin of Win- netka and Samuel Otis of Winnetka all have important roles in the production. The cast is further composed of Haw- ley Mertz of Evanston, who plays op- posite Mrs. McKendry; Miss Margaret Merriweather of Highland Park, and Mrs. Roger S. Vale of Highland Park; Norman Parker, Eugene E. Macy and Leon McKendry of Evanston complete the cast. Opens New Beauty Shop in Winnetka Location Miss Maria Lagerquist has opened a beauty culture shop, to be known as the Maria, in the Franklin building, 794 Elm street, Winnetka. Miss Lager- quist has been engaged in beauty cul- ture work in Winnetka for the past five years, and is also a graduate of the Stockholm Institute in Swedish massage. She will leave Thursday, March 17, for New York for a few days on business and during her ab- sence Miss Mabel Ruder will be in charge. Christian Science Lesson Sermon Is "Substance" The lesson sermon at First Church of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday morn- ing, March 14, will be "Substance." Services are held in the Masonic temple at 708 Elm street, at 11 o'clock, and the testimonial meeting is held on Wednesday evening, at 8 o'clock. The Christian Science reading room at 526 Linden street, is open daily from 12 until 6 p. m. The Noonday recital at Kimball hall on March 19, will consist of a program given by Amy Degerman, pianist, and organ selections played by Allen W. Bogen. ee ( William J. Wales of 480 Sheridan road, James Burnham, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Burnham of 536 Roslyn road, Kenilworth, have received the unusual honor in their junior year, out of a class of about 500, of being admitted into Phi Beta Kappa. This much coveted honor is only bestowed upon students as a result of high standard in their scholarship.
