This method is a means of checking up on the boys to see whether they are attending in a full uniform correctly worn. Following the inspection, some games were held in the Gym, consisting of "Over and Under" and relay races, and a "Tug-O-War." For next week Scoutmaster FEisenbrand is going to bring a book on ants. During the first part of Troop 2's meeting Mr. Cameron, scoutmaster, ex- plained the working of the locks at the Panama Canal. Then an O'Grady drill- down and relay races were held in the Gym. Following Troop 2's system of weekly assignments, a map of Win- netka showing certain streets and build- ings was assigned for this week. Fred- erick Clerk submitted a satisfactory map. Eugene Thoms and Gordon Ro- binson turned in first-aid kits. After playing the game of "Drag" in the gym, Troop 3 held practice on the International Code. Since Mr. Mills, scoutmaster, is leaving this week for a month's stay in Texas, the troop will be in charge of some of the older boys and of Jack Hancock Star Scout and Assistant Scoutmaster of an Oak Park Troop who has been helping in the or- ganization and running of Troop 3. By way of a troop contest, the different patrols are working on large patrol knot-boards for the exhibition not so very far off. Judge William Nelson Gemmill of the Superior court, father of Mrs. D. Plays Before Former Schoolmates Miss Estelle Swigart, a graduate of New Trier high school in the class of 1925 and at present a student at Northwestern university, will be a 'cello soloist at the concert to be given Tuesday afternoon, March 23, at New Trier high school, by the Little Symphony Players of Chicago, under the direction of George Dasch. While at New Trier .Miss Swigart, together with her brother, George, and Frances Anderson, gained quite a reputation playing together as a trio. Miss Swigart is a pupil of Carl Brueckner. Our Women Voters The Kenilworth branch of the League of Women Voters has just started a government study class. It met for the first time Wednesday afternoon, March 17, at the home of Mrs. George Benson. There are 20 women in the group with Mrs. Mark Cresap and Mrs. E. S. Sny- dacker as leaders. The subjects to be studied are county government, election machinery, the primary and qualifications of candi- dates. The Winnetka study class has had an enthusiastic attendance of 20 or more members at each meeting. The last session was held Monday, March 15, at the home of Mrs. Roger Sher- man. Mrs. John Vander Vries gave a talk on county government, and a gen- eral discussion followed, led by Mrs. Hugo von Hofsten, Mrs. Roswell Ma- son, Mrs. W. G. A Finance Field day to make plans permanently financing the League of Women Voters was held at the home of Mrs. William G. Hibbard on Willow road, Monday, February 15. Twenty-five women representing 75 different local leagues in Illinois, attend- ed the conference. Mrs. Hibbard, as chairman of the fourth region of the League's national division, presided at the morning session. Miss Florence Harrison, secretary of the fourth legion, presided in the after- noon. There was a general discussion by all the league presidents of money raising and local league budgets. Winnetka was the first local league to adopt a budget plan and it has been so successful that many of the league presidents went home prepared to try it out in their communities. a
