Devine, Republican can- didate for county treasurer, has ser- ved the people of Cook County for the last seven and one-half years as Clerk of the Probate Court. In that capaci- ty he earned more than half a mil- lion dollars over and above all expenses of his office. This profit has meant a corres- ponding decrease in taxation for the people of Cook County. His efficiency has been such that the county efficiency expert has continually stated that he wished other offices were run on the same basis as that of Mr. Devine, while the Democratic president of the County Board, as a matter of fair- ness has also joined in the praise of his work. The county treasurer employs al- most four times the number of em- ployes required by the clerk of the Probate Court. As county treasurer the same efficient administrative policies which Mr. Devine has em- ployed as clerk of the Probate Court ought to result in a corres- ponding saving for the public ag- gregating millions of dollars. As a public official Mr. Devine has combined economy in efficiency of administration with service. While making an actual profit for the tax- payers the Probate Court has also been the only court where a case can be heard on the same day that it is filed. Proved fitness means assured pro- fits. John F. Devine is an asset to the people of Cook County, and his present value of them should be in- creased still more by making him County Treasurer. PRIMARIES TUESDAY, APRIL 13th POLLS OPEN 6A.
