B | Who S This | | Commemorate 107 Years of Lodge in United States By A. H. H. On Thursday evening, April 29, A. T. Sherman lodge, No. 892, I. O. O. F., celebrated the 107th anniversary of the founding of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in America. A very interesting and entertaining pro- gram was carried out in the large hall of the Odd Fellow's building in Wil- mette, before a representative crowd of Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, their rela- tives, and friends. Music for the oc- casion was furnished by Kerr's orches- tra. The Imperial quartet delighted the audience with a number of selec- tions, all of which were heartily en- cored. The principal address of the | evening was delivered by the Rev. |O. F. Jordon, of Park Ridge, a mem- ber of Evanston lodge, No. 673. In the course of his interesting and instructive address Mr. Jordon traced briefly the history of the order, from its establishment on April 26, 1819, in the city of Baltimore, Md., by Thomas Wildey, the founder, and four other members of the English order. Mr. Jordon told how the American order grew by leaps and bounds during the century following, until today it num- bers over two and one-half million | members in the United States. His re- marks were interspersed with many witticisms and clever ancedotes, in il- lustration of his statements, and his audience listened in rapt attention and with intense interest during his entire discourse. At the conclusion of the program refreshments were served in the lodge hall. The entertainment committee has planned to hold a final card and bunco party in the lodge halls Thursday eve- ning, May 13. GOLF CLUB LUNCHEON The Wilmette Golf club is having a get together luncheon today for its women members, both golf players of its past two seasons, and prospective players, to formulate plans for the new season's program and to appoint a golf chairman and committee.
