May 8, 1926 WINNETKA TALK Commuter Fatally Injured in Leap From a Train Frank C. Howorka, of 2308 Isabella street, Evanston, and president of the LaSalle Photo Engraving company, Chicago, sustained injuries when alighting from a North Western train, in Wilmette, Friday evening of last week, from which he died shortly afterwards. According to evidence introduced before the coroner's jury, at the un- dertaking parlors of F. E. Lewis, 1120 | Central avenue, Wilmette, Monday | morning, Mr. Howorka's death was | purely accidental. He came out from the city on the | train arriving in Wilmette a few min- | utes after 6 o'clock. It was a nine- | coach train and Mr. Howorka was seen. | standing on the rear steps of the last coach, as the train began pulling out | of the station. As the coach ap- proached a point approximately op- posite the north end of the depot, and | after it had gained considerable head- | way, Mr. Howorka jumped off. I In falling, he sustained a cut on the forehead and a blow in the back of the head from which he was rendered un- conscious. He was at once rushed to the Evanston hospital in the Wilmette police ambulance, but did not regain consciousness. Mr. Howorka was 49 years old. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Herbert, residing on Leland avenue, Chicago and Frank, at home, and one daughter, Christine, also at home. Two brothers and two sisters also survive, William, Earnest and Clara, all of Chicago and Bertha, of Los Angeles, Cal. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the residence. Burial was at Oak- ridge cemetery. Rev. A. E. Rohrbach to Speak at Local Church Services at the Scandinavian Evangelical church Sunday, May 9, will begin with the Sunday school at 10:30 o'clock. At this hour, the Rev. A. E. Rohrbach will speak to the chil- dren. In the afternoon at 5 o'clock students from North Park college will conduct the Young People's meeting. At 7:45 o'clock, O. H. Olney will speak. On Wednesday, May 12, at 8:15 o'clock, the Rev. A. E. Rohrbach will preach in the Swedish language.
