I STATE BANK AND TRUST COMPANY ORRINGTON EVANSTON, ILLINOIS AT DAVIS School of Speech of Northwestern Begins Commencement Days The month of May and early June give place to a full program of student recitals and Commencement week fea- tures at the Northwestern University School of Speech. Lecture-Recitals have been offered in early May by Herbert Maw, Rozetta Segal and Elmer C. Kiessling. The school's May Festival was staged Thursday on an outdoor stage. Friday afternoon a post graduate recital was given by Miss Ruth Girard, and the senior recital took place Tuesday af- ternoon. Today there will be another post graduate recital by Miss Harriet Allyn. Tomorrow will bring the all- school rally and final "get-together" of the School of Speech in Annie May Swift hall auditorium at 4. Thursday, June 10, commencement exercises will take place. The address will be given by Dean Ralph B. Dennis, expected to return by that time from a year in Switzerland, and exercises wil be held at 8 at Annie May Swift all. The university campus program and illumination will be staged at 8 Fri- day, June 11. Saturday, June 12, will bring the University alumni luncheon at 12 at Northwestern university gym- nasium; the alumni meeting of the School of Speech will take place at 5 with the alumni supper at 6 and an almni reading at 7:30 preceding the annual president's reception at the gymnasium between 9 and 11. Sunday, June 13, is the date of the annual baccalaureate service at 3 at the gymnasium followed by the candle- light service of song at 8. Monday, June 14, the 68th annual commence- ment exercises of the University will take place at 10:30 at the gymnasium. Opens New Piano Store in Evanston This Month Carleton Kaumeyer, 601 Linden ave- nue, Wilmette, will open a new piano store to be called the Chickering Studios, at 527 Davis street, Evanston, about the middle of June, it was an- nounced this week. The store will handle Chickering, Marshall and Wen- dell, and Brewster pianos, as well as the Ampico in Chickering and Mar- shall and Wendel makes. Mr. Kau- meyer announces that he will be equip- ped to give complete service on any of his pianos and he will also carry music rolls for the Ampico. A large stock of grand pianos will be kept on hand and any type of piano in the makes mentioned above may be pur- chased through the store. Portable phorographs will also be sold, it was said. WINS CONTEST HONOR In a recent violin contest at the American Conservatory of Music, Miss Katherine Hamilton of 412 Walnut street, Winnetka, won first place. The prize is the honor of appearing as solo- ist with the Chicago Symphony Or- chestra at the commencement concert of the conservatory. The concert will take place at the Auditorium Friday evening, June 11. Mr. and Mrs. P. Schoenbrun, 864 Burr avenue, are spending three weeks in the East. Mr. Schoenbrun went to Atlantic Citv on a business trip and Mrs. Schoenbrun accompanied him. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Zipf of 596 Arbor Vitae road returned this week from their southern trip.
