System See this World Holy Land New Trier's First Orchestra Formed in the early part of 1902, the orchestra is the oldest organization at New Trier high school. This first or- chestra was composed of 12 members, under the leadership of R. W. Sharpe, a member of the faculty. The instru- ments used were two cornets, six violins, a piano, flute, bass viol, trom- bone and drums. Reading from left to right the mem- bers were Paul Fernald, Gage Hall, Charles Eastman, Hugh Melville, Howard Mussen, Mamie Sieber, Paul McQueene, Edith Corette, Marjorie Hankey, Irving Evans, Roger Morri- son and Allan Hyde. Compare this group with the present New Trier orchestra of 45 members, which in- cludes every instrument of a symphony orchestra. The school owns most of the instruments, about 40 in all.
