June 19, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 35 Colonial Note Predominant at Stixrud Wedding The marriage of Miss Audrey Stix- rud, 607 Willow road, to George Ship- man of 432 Warwick road, Kenilworth, took place Saturday, June 12, at 8:30, at Christ church, Winnetka. In a colorful setting of pink and white peonies, ferns and palms, the bridal party passed between candel- abras supporting draped ribbons. In every detail of dress and decoration, Miss Stixrud's wedding carried out the colonial period. The bride was dressed in white taf- feta, with hoop skirt reaching to her ankles, and carried a shower bouquet of sweet peas, lilies-of-the-valley, roses and orchids. Her veil of white tulle and lace bonnet trimmed in orange blossoms, accentuated the co- lonial effect. Miss Elizabeth Shipman, maid of honor wore green taffeta, while Mrs. Giles Weiss, matron of honor, and the bridesmaids, Miss Gretchen Stratton and Miss Alice Shipman, wore orchid taffeta, all with hoop skirts and deep borders of tulle reaching to the ankles. A reception followed the wedding at the brides home, and the young couple left immediately afterwards for a five weeks' honeymoon in the West. They will visit Lake Louise, Vancouver, Seattle, and spend some time with the bride's married sister, Mrs. E. E. Mc- Leod, of Hollywood, Cal, who was formerly Miss Beulah Stixrud. Helen Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Davis, 1080 Private road, has gone to Boston for a spe- cial music course under Mr. Surrette of Concord, Mass. Miss Davis will also attend the Alpha Phi convention while she is there, returning later in the summer to Lake Hamlin, Luding- ton, Mich. to be with her family at their cottage. When Motorcycle Police- man Fugene Schubert and Francis Raeburn attempted to arrest her she struck Schubert in the face, but the policemen overpowered her and took her to the police station. Mrs. Mangen was accompained by her husband, who was also said to have been intoxicated, and had her week-old baby with her. She became so violent at the police station that it was necessary to give her medical attention. She was re- leased in the custody of her sister, Mrs. Thomas Welsh, of Chicago, to await trial at a later date. Two empty bottles, which had contained wine, were found in the car by the police- men. Mrs. Mangen was clad only in a nightgown. The baby was cared for by the village health department.
