He reports a very successful business in Florida the past season, and is truly an enthusiastic Floridan. regardless of the propaganda in the North against the state, conditions in Florida are very favorable. This is es- pecially true, he says, in regard to legitimate developments and well-lo- cated residential or business proper- ties. He also says therc has been a great deal of activity on the part of northern investors in the matter of buying Flor- ida mortgages and bonds, in which there has been a noticable increase within the past thirty days. The Flor- ida municipal bond market shows a very decided improvement, he asserts, and Florida municipals recently have been selling as high as par and acrued interest, which was almost unheard of a while back. The big high class developers, he ex- plains, are very lenient with purchasers of lots, in the matter of payments, where it is necessary. nother thing that Mr. Smith de- clares is indicative of the continued steady development of the state is the large number of northern tourists en- tering the state at this time. The sum- mer tourist business in Florida he states is growing all the time. Purchases Wigglesworth Property in Wilmette The A. W. Ryan, Chicago Architect, Erects Beautiful Residence on Earls- ton Road, Kenilworth William J. Ryan, the well known architect with offices jat 77 West Washington street, Chicago, 1s build- ing for his own home, a beautiful eight room solid brick colonial house, on Earlston road, Kenilworth, over west of the station in what was formerly the golf grounds but which has been subdivided and developed into one of the most beautiful and highly restrict- ed sections of the north shore. The streets and other improvements were put in this section some time ago and Mr. Ryan's residence is among the first of the many buildings which are either now underway or are con- templated. It is located on a beauti- ful lot, 82 by 165 feet, with a south- east frontage and is set up, to permit proper grading and landscaping in keeping with a $40,000 development, which it will represent. It will be of face brick on all sides, with Bedford stone trim, concrete foundation walls, steel beams and col- umns and slate roof. All walls and ceilings are to be furred and insulated. The sun room will have Fiance tile floor. The three bath rooms will have colored tile floors and wainscoating and the latest type of sanitary plumb- ing. Both the residence and the two- car brick garage, will be heated with hot water. Mr. Ryan expects to have the building completed by September 15. Additional interest in building circles on the north shore is being attracted to that portion of Earlston road, in Kenilworth, a short distance east of Ridge road, where the Kenilworth Community development managers are having erected two beautiful resi- dences, one of English design and the other of French. Both will be of brick veneer and have seven rooms, with three baths. The garages will be at- tached. The lots on which they will stand are 80 by 165 feet. After coms= pletion they will be open for inspec- tion to the public for two weeks and then they will be sold at cost, it is said. There has also been completed, direct- ly across the street from these houses, a beautiful brick home of the English farmhouse type. Builds New Residence on Wood Ct., Wilmette C. H. Brethold, the well-known con- tractor and builder at 545 Main street, Wilmette, is building for the market at 227 Wood court, Wilmette, a six- room brick veneer residence which he expects to have completed sometime in July. It is on a fifty foot lot on the west side of the street and will have two baths.
