ill or oT August 14, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 33 ANNOUNCE NEW CLUB Mission Hills Country Club, Near Northbrook, Will Be One of Best North Shore Courses North Shore golfers will be interest- ed to learn of a new golf club which is now offering memberships. Nearly all of the officers and directors of the club are residents of the north shore and the club will be unique in many ways. The Mission Hills Country club will be the name of the new organization. The club is located at Techny and Sanders roads, Northbrook, about six miles west of Glencoe. It can be reached from the north shore by the Dundee road, or by Willow road, Win- netka, which is soon to be paved. The officers and directors are as fol- lows: C. A. Nash, 222 Tenth street, Wilmette, president; R. H. McElroy, Jr., 704 Sheridan road, Wilmette, vice- president; R. C. Taft, 900 Central ave- nue, Wilmette, treasurer; L. J. Beau- vais, secretary. Directors are G. H. Ackerman, J. F. Caine, W. N. Cornell, 801 Ashland avenue, Wilmette, W. S. King, 146 Bertling lane, Winnetka, Hugo H. Kuhl, 630 Maple avenue, Wil- mette, B. W. Lynch, 827 Ashland ave- nue, Wilmette, J. M. McVoy, F. J. Seng, 435 Lake avenue, Wilmette. Tell Club's Attractions Statements regarding the new club by its officials are as follows: "Perhaps Mission Hills Country club will solve the busy man's problem. He wants a golf course which is near enough to his office yet far enough re- moved from the din and hurry-scurry of the city. "Mission Hills Country club is but six miles west of Glencoe: The well- known Dundee road takes you within a few yards of what will soon be the first tee. And, as if to make the new course even more handy, the new Wil- low road is being made ready with concrete. Straight west from Winnet- ka it goes, almost running into the Mission Hills property. "The new club owns 140 acres of land. That's enough for any golf course, especially when the land is of the stuff that the best golf courses are made of. Enough but not too many trees, natural hazards, rich soil, roll- ing land, eye-catching scenery. "There will be no dues until 1927. At that time it is expected that members will be able to take turf and replace divots on nine of the eighteen holes. The golf architects have gone over the land carefully. They agree that the soil is ideal for golfing. In fact they go so far as to assert that the entire course will be ready for play next year. "The present buildings on Mission Hills will be remodeled. They will serve as a temporary club house and serve members' needs through the summer of '27. You can't play golf in a Club house anyway. Good greens, good tees, a promising fairway--that's most important." Carl D. Kelly, president of the ILa- Salle Steel company, has purchased the residence of Mrs. Thomas W. Ritchie at 35 Indian Hill road, on the Indian Hill club grounds. --O Mr. and Mrs. William Roberts, 1115 Merrill street, have been entertaining as their guests this past week, Mr. and Mrs. Manzel Brown of Toledo, Ohio. | A. The golden text was from Galatians 6:8, "He that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting." Among the citations which com- prised the lesson-sermon was the fol- lowing from the bible: "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bond- age. For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not lib- erty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" This I say then, walk in the spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." (Galatians 5:1, 13, 14, 18). The lesson-se, mon also included the following pasrage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "When what we errone- ously term the five physical senses are misdirected they are simply the mani- fested beliefs of mortal mind, which Metropolitan LiteInsurance Company Millions to Loan First Mortgages L 4 LOW RATES L 4 Residences Bungalows REAL ESTATE LOAN DEPARTMENT CHICAGO TRUST COMPANY TETER JOHN W.
