This meeting will be held on the first anniversary of the organization of this branch, which will be the evening of Tuesday, Septem- ber 21, at the Sovereign hotel. There will be a program of excep- tional merit, including the following artists : Harold Gray, Tribune cartoon- ist, originator of "Little: Orphan An- nie"; Miss Helen Poulson, reader; Miss Ruthie Diehl, the "Wonder Child" of the Morgan school; Capt. R.G.R Fisher, address; President Arthur H. Millard, address--"The Growth of the School." Winnetka Music Teacher Has Two Books Published Miss Kathleen Air of the Columbia School of Music, not ony teaches mu- sic and has charge of the Winnetka branch of that well-known scliool, but she writes books, and has them pub- lished. Miss Air's two books may be purchased in Winnetka at the Bruns- wich shop or the Victrola shop. They are entitled, "Ten Ideal Lessons in Child Training for Piano Study," and "Music Writing Book for Scales and Chords," published by Clayton F. Summy. - The first book mentioned is a textbook for teachers. BIBLE CLASS MEETS The Men's class of the Winnetka Congregational church will hold its first meeting September 26. Hamilton Daughaday is president of the class. Mr. G. A. Johnstone, 491 Hill road, is at the St. Luke's hospital recovering from a serious operation which occur- red Monday, September 13. Congregational Church Re-opens Church School The church school of the Winnetka Congregational church will open all its departments and. classes Sunday, Sep- tember 19. Worship for the upper school including the grades from the seventh through the high school, the primary and kindergarten, will begin at 9:30 o'clock, finishing their class work at 10:45 o'clock. The worship for grades four, five and six will be at 10:15 o'clock, completing their class work at 11:30 o'clock. All except the kindergarten and primary will meet in the church auditorium for their service of worship, before their class session. The class sessions are forty-five min- ute periods, the first, 10:00 to 10:45 o'clock and the second 10:45 to 11:30 o'clock. This gives opportunity for those teachers who so desire to go into the adult church service for the sermon. At the first session of the Church school worship, Sunday, Dr. J. W. F. Davies will talk on "What is my place in the world?" At the sec- ond session, his subject will be, "An Adventure." President Edna Dean Baker and members of the faculty of the National Kindergarten and Elementary college held an informal reception for the Freshmen students and their mothers in Harrison hall on Thursday after- noon, September 16. Tea was served in the alumnae rooms and students and faculty had an opportunity of becom- ing acquainted before the opening of the regular classes.
