A few words on the telephone or to Bill the Washington Laundry Man, and '"Washday" would be removed from your calendar--your mind--and your home. 700-704 Washington Street ™ CALL IN BILL TODAY-- . ¥ EVANSTON. As you recall I purchased a full page ad ineach of your publications announc- ing the reopening of Ye Olde Hay- lofte. To this I attribute our doing the largest business in food since the Loft has been in existence. Although we had a complete supply of food on hand, we were sold out at 7 o'clock on Sun- day, and were compelled to turn away between 100 and 150 patrons. After restocking again for Monday, it was again necessary to close our doors for lack of food at 7 o'clock, having fed over 1,000 people on each ay. If you can find space in your valu- able columns of this week's issue, I would deem it a great favor if you would apologize to your readers for our inability to take care of all of them. As the only announcing of my open- ing I did was through the press it only goes to show the power of newspaper advertising. With all good wishes be- lieve me Very truly yours, Frint George ISSUE WEDDING CARDS Mr. and Mrs. Carl Keith, 310 War- wick road, Kenilworth, have issued in- vitations to the marriage of their daughter, Cornelia, to Cleon Larsen of Appleton, Wis, on Saturday, Octo- ber 9, at 8:30 o'clock, at the Church of the Holy Comforter. Schroeder of Wilmette, were the two officers of the 317th Cavalry to qualify as "expert pistol shot," which is the highest rating obtainable in the U. S. Army for proficiency with the regula- tion Colts automatic 45 pistol. Lieutenant Young made the highest percentage in the regiment of 90.3 and Schroeder was a close second. When firing on the bobbing targets, Young made fifteen hits and Schroeder fourteen out of a possible fifteen. In rapid fire at fifteen yards, where five shots are fired in eleven seconds, Schroeder made two scores of forty- nine out of fifty, or an average of 98 per cent which was the best score at that range. Both officers are graduates of the University of Illinofs. The 317th Cavalry Regiment is part of the 65th Cavalry division of the Or- ganized Reserve Corps, and has just been relieved from active duty after its annual fifteen day camp at Fort Sheridan. The Regiment is made up almost entirely of Cook county men and is under command of Col. T. A. Siqueland. To Give Recital in Memory of Beethoven Walter Spry, of the Columbia School of Music, stands in the front rank of Chicago pianists and piano instructors. For several years a resident of Evans- ton, his annual appearances in recitals are looked forward to by the musical public with pleasure. Among the program he will give this season is one devoted entirely to the works of Beethoven, whose centennial will be celebrated the world over. * est of styles--the finest of pelts. perfectly like new. at no cost to you.
