The ball will be held at the Evanston Country club, Wednes- day evening, October 13, and is the scholarship ball which has for its pur- pose, raising money to send a girl trom Evanston High school to Smith college. Mrs. E. S. Clark, (Elizabeth Camp- bell) is general chairman for the ball, and has an efficient committee co-ope- rating with her to make this affair one of the outstanding events of the year. Jerry Conley's orchestra has been en- gaged to provide the music, and the mystery of the entertainment is yet unsolved. But Miss Virginia Forbes of Evanston, who is in charge of pro- viding the entertainment and her committee, are planning some striking forms of amusement devised to delight everyone. Patton "The Old Gospel in the New Times" is the subject of a series of six lec- tures to be given in Winnetka this fall. Dr. Carl S. Patton, formerly of Los Angeles, and now of the faculty of Chicago Theological seminary, is to present this series on six consecutive Wednesday evenings beginning Octo- ber 13. A joint committee of Christ church and the Winnetka Congrega- tional church has arranged the series and a cordial invitation is extended to all Winnetkans and their friends. Dr. Patton will deal with his subject, "The Old Gospel in the New Times" as follows: October 13--"The Present Day Em- phasis in Religious Belief." October 20--"Is the Old Testament Outgrown?" October 27--"The Heart of the New Testament." November 3--"What Does the Chris- tian Owe the World?" November 10--"What for?" November 17--"Christianity and the Nations."
