Mrs. William Schertz, Mrs. Rath- bone's sister, who has been her house guest for the last three weeks, left Monday evening for her home in Pitts- burgh. During her stay she was en- tertained by Mrs. William B. Austin, Miss Olga Menn, Mrs. Benjamin Af- fleck, Mrs. George E. Sezey, Mrs. Harry F. Atwood, Countess Frederick d'Aix, Mrs. Frank Townley Brown, Mrs. IL. Bracket Bishop, Mrs. Robert J. Witt and Mrs. Samuel S. Hutchin- son. Monday evening Mrs. Rathbone en- tertained at dinner at the Union League club and a theater party later in the evening, in honor of her sister. Beach Party to Open Young People's Club The Winnetka Sunday Evening club will open its fall program with a beach party to be held Sunday evening, Oc- tober 3, at 6:00 o'clock, on the Lake Front Park beach. Members of the club are asked to come and bring as their guests, other voung people who might be interested in the club. If the weather is unfavor- able, supper will be served in the Camp Fire room, Community House, it is announced. The club is composed of a group of Winnetka young people who meet every Sunday evening in the Camp Fire room for the purpose of dis- worthwhile and cussing interesting subjects. This is the third year of its activities. Plans for the year's pro- gram are practically completed. Loafmore College Wins Track Event at Parish Frolic In a hotly contested inter-collegiate track meet held in Matz hall Wednes- day night, the Loafmore college team carried off the honors with first place. The scores were, Loafmore college, 39; Gridiron college, 28; Dumbell univer- sity, 21; University of Allthenoise, 11. Among the individual stars were Stanley Simpson of Dumbell, who won first place in the Big Blow, and the aquatic events, and William Taylor of Gridiron college, who took first in the "Swat the Freshman" bout. These and other lively numbers featured the pro- gram of the "Parish Frolic" which furnished fun for members and friends of the Congregational church. The track meet was halted at one point to permit the visiting teams to hear the monologue artist, Mrs. John Marshall, give two of her humorous Southern dialect readings. The program closed with a brief but excellent Glee club contest featuring the several "Alma Mater" hymns writ- ten for the occasion. Winnetka residents who are alumni of McGill university, have received in- vitations to attend the one hundred and fisth anniversary reunion in Montreal October 6 to 9. Nearly three thousand graduates and students attended the centennary reunion in 1921, when the decision was made to hold homecom- ing every five years. It is expected as many will attend this year. Mr. and Mrs. John Vennema, 849 Willow road, with their son, have re- turned to Winnetka after a summer spent at Vineyard Haven, Mass.
