October 9, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 11 NORTH SHORE TO VIEW BETTER HOMES EXHIBIT Highland Park Woman's Club Sponsors Unusual Exposition October 13 to 15 One of the most notable projects ever undertaken by a woman's club in the tenth district is the forthcoming Better American Homes now being promoted by the Highland Park Woman's club. The club build- ing owned by this organization at Sheridan road and Elm place, in High- land Park, will house the exposition on October 13, 14 and 15. This is an enterprise of considerable magnitude and all plans are about completed for its success. Forty Exhibitors Both floors of the building are be- ing devoted to the purposes of the exposition and about forty exhibitors in all have bought space for the dis- play of their products. The main au- ditorium floor has been given over almost entirely to the more decorative and beautiful appurtenances of the home, and numbers among its exhibi- tors the following: Lyon & Healy, The W. P. Nelson company, John A. Colby & Sons, Wal- ter G. Warrem & Sons, C. G. Everson and company, Brandt Linen company, Plymelt Products company, Crane company, Scholle Furniture company, Nahigian & Bros., The Hub, Compton's Picture Encyclopedia, Celotex com- pany, Hartman Trunk company, C. D. Macpherson, Illinois Life Insurance company. Backed by Federation Although the work of promotion is being done by the finance committee it is also in line with the most im- portant current project of the Gen- eral Federation of Woman's clubs throughout the country in stressing the value of the American home. Club women everywhere are urged to support this project by their inter- est and attendance. A nominal ad- mission charge, is being made to the general public, though club women may obtain tickets through their own organizations. The hours of the ex- position are from noon to 10 o'clock in the evening, on the three days of its continuance. Janet Chatten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melville Chatten, 1025 Dinsmore road, and Marjorie Winterbotham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Win- terbotham of Oak street, were joint hostesses Saturday afternoon, October 2, from 2 until 5, at a party given for a number of their young friends in celebration of their birthdays, which occur the same week. --e Mrs. Daniel J.
