14 WINNETKA TALK October 9, 192¢ Proviso Wins by One Point Margin From New Trier Proviso defeated New Trier high school by a score of 18-17 last Satur- day in the first football game of the season. The game, which was wit- nessed by a large crowd, was played on the soccer field, because the gridiron was in poor condition from the ex- cessive amount of rain. In the first quarter the Gray and Green warriors made two touch- downs but failed to score on kick for goal. At the end of the quarter the score was 12-0. In the second quarter Proviso scored twice and New Trier made a goal from field, leaving the score 15-12 in favor of New Trier at the end of the half. In the third |} quarter New Trier held Proviso and | gg also made two points. In the last quarter Proviso woke up and made a touchdown in the last few minutes of play, winning the game by a margin of one point.
