October 9, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 21 Thousands Are Guests at P. S. Company Open House Visitors, thous- ands in the aggregate, this week are delving into the mysteries surrounding the manufacture of gas and electricity in the numerous plants of the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois. On October 4 the company inaugu- numbering many rated its Second Annual Open House! Week--a project designed to give the company's customers and the public at large, the opportunity to acquire de- tailed information concerning their gas and electric service. Attractive com- plimentary passes to the number of nearly 200,000, each bearing the fac- smile signature of Britton I. Budd, the company's president, were mailed to customers several days ago. These passes convey to the holders full privileges of Public Service company plant inspection between the hours of 10 a. m. to 12 noon; 2 p. m. to 4 p. m. and 6 p. m. to 8 p. m. on any day from October 4 to 9, inclusive. During the last few weeks, scores of company employes have been given special training in order that thorough- ly qualified guides may be available to inspection parties throughout the terri- tory. Any party of visitors, regardless of its number, will be escorted through whichever plant is selected for inspec- tion, by some representative of the company who is fully qualified to ex- plain. the manufacturing processes. Road Improvement to | Open Traffic Highway | The opening, straightening and | widening of Lee road to a one hundred foot thoroughfare south from where it now enters Dundee road to connect with Kotz road, is another of the im- portant developments of the near west north shore area which comes up for hearing of interested property owners at Northbrook, next Saturday, it is said. From Dundee road, Lee road extends north to the Highland Park, Deerfield road, and with the improved south end of this thoroughfare, in reality opened to Wilmette avenue, will give another excellent artery of travel northward, greatly relieving the already heavy traffic on Waukegan road, Sheridan road and north and south streets in north shore villages.
