Wil- liam Nordin, will give the program at the Wilmette Sunday Evening club Sunday, October 10. The club will present a concert that is entirely new, it is stated. It has appeared before the Sunday club on two other occa- sions and has become extremely popu- lar on the north shore. _ This chorus is one of the finest of its type in the Middle West and is made up entirely of persons of Swed- ish extraction. Its membership com- prises Chicago business men and the group made a highly successful tour of Sweden three years ago, appearing before large audiences in the native land. The Sunday Club's 1926-27 season opened last Sunday amid auspicious circumstances. Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes of the Chicago Area of the Methodist Episcopal church was the speaker, on the subject, "The Bible and Patriotism," and attracted a large au- dience. Mrs. Frederick B. Woodard of Owos- so, Mich., arrived today to visit her sister, Mrs. Burt Crowe, 234 Rawleigh road, Kenilworth, over the week-end. Mrs. Woodard's daughter, Florence, who is attending the Art institute, is also to be a guest of Mrs. Crowe over Saturday and Sunday. Richards Give Views on Book Last Sunday the Men's class of the Winnetka Congregational church be- gan its study of the Gospel with John, Rev. James Austin Richards leading. It has been agreed that for at least the forepart of this study, attention will be given to the authorship and original purpose of this book, the environment in which it was produced, and like matters which are at once of interest in themselves and an aid to a clearer understanding of 'the Gospel's deep values. The authorship of John's Gospel has been in dispute for centuries, for there is considerable evidence that it was not the work of the Apostle John. On the other hand the most common alterna- tive view that it was written by a sec- ond century theologian is also open to serious objections. At last Sunday's meeting Dr. Richards presented the idea--novel to most members of the class--that the book may have been the work of neither the Apostle nor a second century writer, but that an- other disciple, John--the young man who outran Peter in going to Jesus' tomb--wrote it in his old age at Ephesus. The evidence and deduc- tions on which this possibility rests are most interesting. Will Discuss Gospel Next Sunday attention will be con- centrated on the introduction comprised in the first eighteen verses of the first chapter, the interpretation of which in- volves a more difficult and much more important problem than does the au- thorship of the book. Dr. Richards will also discuss the literary craftsmanship of the Gospel of John. Dr. Richards is giving the class a fund of information which most mem- bers would find it hard to get from ordinary reading. He is not, however, delivering a formal course of lectures. and in accordance with his wish as well as the established custom of the class the utmost freedom of discussion pre- vails. All men who may be interested are cordially invited to join the class, which meets at 9:30 o'clock in the American Legion room of Community House. = Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Michigan Blvd. Chicago, Ill Dear Dr. Nabors: I was troubled with a severe cold in the head, of about a weeks' duration which was followed by a very bad cough. A friend of mine, noticing my condi- tion, kindly offered me a box of Dr. Na- bors' Cold Tablets for which I had every reason to be thankful, not only at that time, but at many times following. I had to take about ten or twelve tab- lets for that cold, which was taken over. a course of 49 hours, and after the third day my cold left me entirely, the cough leaving a day or so later. We never know what a cold is now, for just as soon as a cold is felt coming on, two of Dr. Nabors' Cold Tablets seem to be an absolute guarantee against colds. This is also true of our two little girls, who were subject to colds, but the first sneeze is a call for two of Dr. Na- bors' Cold Tablets, and that is all they usually require, as the cold never ma- terializes. Yours very truly, George I. Verconter, 8056 S. Ada St., Chicago. 2 (0), N10 0) 0) COLD TABLETS 20 For Sale by Adams' Pharmacy and Community Pharmacy CP pon. GL ON A iV a
